Standish warrior who do you think wants to take over, would he be on the board of Directors at Wigan RL already, cos i agree if it is who I am thinking of then he is proud to wear the name Wigan

After a really dark day, there is light at the end of the tunnel.
The mess he leaves behind may take several years to sort out, but we have hope that this great club can return to glory days in a few years.

Don't be too hard on him. He's done the right thing now and should be thanked for that.

imo we dont need a takeover because you dont need huge amounts of cash to buy players anymore i think we just need somebody to sort our finances out!!and maybe a chairman who finally lets the manager buy players rather than getting over the hill players in who are here for a holiday and a pay day!wont mention names but you all know who they are

All i can say is come on Mr Whelan, you have received an offer, accept it, get rid of all the admin staff and the accountant aswell, lets have a clean desk for the new owner, we might be suprised he may be good at maths and the salary cap wont be over for the season 2008 / 2009, cos we will get done again next season as Maurice has already over spent again.

It would have to be somebody with considerable finance. Dave Whelan will not sell Wigan RLFC cheaply. Those mentioning ex players as prospective buyers are way off the mark. I hope it is a genuine fan and somebody relatively young.
For what it is worth I think ML had the best interests of the club at heart. However, as the saying goes, never return. He did superbly in his first spell. In his second he has made several mistakes is too old and lacking the health to run the club properly. I presume he will move to Aus.
Losing DW? Big question mark until we know who and what is proposed? DW is a good owner in many ways and having one owner for both clubs sharing a single ground is probably far easier. However, he is elderly and he cannot take clubs forward on his own. A complete change may be the best option. It does raise question re the ground, safeguards as to tenure and even Orrell.
Excited BUT cautious.

I would say respect to MO.
His last act was one of sacrfice for his beloved Wigan Club.
He knew that that he would fall from grace for his last act of securing Wigan's survival in the SL.
He did all that was possible, yes, not within the spirit of the cap.
He has done more for your club than anybody ever has or probably ever will.
