i imagine that the pitch drainage goes from the pitch and slopes down to outfall into the River Douglas. When the Dougie is higher than usual (not even as bad as it is now) the water from the River is going to track back up these drains so the soil beneath the pitch becomes waterlogged.

Funny that there are never any problems with the pitch in summer when its just being used for rugby - ie when its drier and the general level of the river is lower than during the winter months.

Good idea. Maybe we can stick one in Stevo and stop the flow of effluent coming out of him as well.

As much as I think Stevo is biast towards Wigan, I have just read his book and it is superb, I think that we would miss the character if he retired. After all THE ALTERNATIVE IS PHIL CLARK THE MAP MAN, NO THANKS.

The Latics' attendance is even more comical. Well done to 4,500 Chelsea fans making the trip

Blinking `ek...I’ve just seen the pitch on TV as Latics are playing there now...I was very shocked, its a disgrace! All down the centre of the pitch is bear with no grass covering it!

The commentator said that the reason it has gone like this is something to do with an underground situation. :conf:
I read somewhere that it was to do with some heaters that they used to try and dry it - dunno how accurate that is though.

So what will happen? Will it be re-turfed for when we start?

Better ask turf....

i just brush off the rugby league blame these days because we all know the truth! I think its sometimes just the pundits trying to cover up as usual.
