Would anyone think Colbon missed precious time due to University commitments over the 3 years (2003-2006)???


Not a bad choice to go to Uni but it may have affected his progress somewhat

Can`t beleve that Noble would play Colbon rather than Calderwood , thought Calderwood played well today , Colbon following losing us the game at Hull should have been dropped ( forever ) . Can`t blame him for the loss at Leeds today but he`s to slow for a top class winger .
Just Goes to show though we` re not far off competing with the best .

We are.

Leeds are consistant, where not. We may well be able to match teams on the day, but we cant maintain it over the season.

No but have you never heard of people saying certain incidents in games were the turning point or key moments? That was one and you can't help thinking had Richards obeen on that wing we may have scored.

It wasn't his fault because I am sure he did his best. It's just his best wasn't good enough.

This is something I said from months ago. Wigan;s back line is too slow, however there were some fans out there commenting on how fast they said Colbon is. OK he is strong, but the best, highest try scoring wingers are usually the speed merchants.
This is no critisism of yesterdays game, as IMO, man for man the lads were brilliant. When you dont get the rub of the green, playing a top team, sh1t happens. Better team lost for me.

I'm not in the habit of singling out players for our defeats.

I was just pointing out that in a tight match, especially a cup game that if a chance presents itself it should be finished.

I still think if Colbon had finished that opportunity we would have won the game.

everyone is entitled to their opinion turf!
at the end of the day the guy is pointing out that if Colbon has any pace at all, the game would of been very different!

Yes he has, a few seasons ago he was one of the fastest players in the Wigan squad. The mystery is where has the pace has gone; poor training, time missed while at university, his training with the army.

Chris Melling used to be very fast when he was in the academy but also lost some pace as he started getting more games in the first team.

If Colbon is taking this stick then Calderwood must that some as well for the positioning on the Donald try...where was he??

It was a compressed defence, he could have been stood next to Donald but would have been 15 yards to the next defender.
