From the RFL:
The RFL has charged Gareth Hock with grabbing hold of a referee’s arm – contrary to the true spirit of the game. This is a grade E offence which if found guilty could result in a suspension of between three and eight matches for the player.

IL stated at the fans forum that they fully endorse the RFL stance and will not be defending Hock and will endorse any suspension.

Quite right, too! I'm expecting closer to 8 than 3 matches, if only because of his previous record. I think anything less than 6 will be a bonus.

It is "quite right" as you put it. We can ill afford to wander down the path of soccer, no matter how incompetent the referee.
Hock has let himself, team-mates (if that is what they all are) and the paying fans down. Should be penalised by the club too for this extreme breach of discipline (you do not lay hands, either deliberate or accidentally on a referee - what next? "Do a Cantona to an away fan that irks him??!!").

I couldn't go to the game on friday, (family commitments), so I didn't see the incident, however I can't condone any such behaviour towards the Ref. It has already been said, and I agree we don't want to wind up the same as football, with players abusing and grabbing the ref. If Hock gets a lengthy ban, then I can only agree it's deserving.
This all being said, I do wish people would get off his back regarding his playing ability. I hear people slating him week in, week out around me at the game, . The fact is, we are a poorer side when he's not on the pitch. Yes I know he drops more than his fair share of ball and lets himself and the team down with stupid stunts such as Friday , but how often does he create the gap, or put a player through with an offload. He's unpredictable and that draws the defense to him, and making spaces is what attacking in rugby is all about. We need a player of his style and ability in our side if we have any chance of maintaining a top six place.
I can't help feeling that Gaz Hock is being made a scapegoat for Fridays debacle, and had the scoreline been reversed we wouldn't be seeing half as many comments regarding his ability.

What like the other half dozen or so ex-players who ripped us apart on Friday did. All of which were slated on this forum at one time or another. Not saying I would like to see them all back, but I do think if we lost hock to another team, it would something we'd regret for a long time
