Thought he was better than Coley (who is definitely a prop and only a prop on tonight's performance) and Prescott; who I only remember taking the ball up twice and once he was carried backwards.
Hansen probably topped our tackle count again tonight

Matthew, Phelps may well be important. I have an inkling he could do well at fullback. He might even be a decent stand off but we have no idea of knowing and that annoys me. We put him on the wing and that was a waste of time in many respects. We have now given him a few games at centre. I just think it is crazy that we have not tested him out as much as we can to decide whether or not he is worth a 3 year contract.

I think the fact that he can cover so many positions is why we should sign him (although I would say 2 rather than 3 years).
I don't really think that he is a stand-off; but he has played pretty well at centre and wing - and I have no reason to believe that he couldn't do a job at fullback if he had to.
He's got pace, he's brave, enthusiastic and he wants to play for Wigan; there aren't that many players in our squad that can tick all those boxes!
I think that he is a safer bet than Mathers is. That said (and to be fair); I thought that Mathers had a better game tonight than he has for a while (admittedly partly because he managed to avoid getting sent off!

)

wrong decision to play coley second row, he is a prop, shoud of moved tomkins up to second row and barrett to loose. Tim smith shouldnt of been on the bench! we shown effort but it wasnt good enough.
And those of you who sang noble out in the south stand a few questions..
1) Are your brains too small to think????? whoose better??? cullen??? jon sharp???? peter sharp????
2) Singing we want edwards in, dont we all??? he is NOT going to come back from union! so what is the point???
We have the best british coach available, id prefer us to stay british and get some consistancy going, considering we havent had that on the pitch or in the coaches seat for the last few years.

the only thing we have consistancy in is the rubbish the we churn out week in week out,we are playing exactly the same brand of rugby we have for the last two seasons and it isn't working,we need to change the type of rugby we play if we are ever going to compete with stains and leeds, catalan have improved year after year why carn't we.if you would have told me three years ago catalan would hold third place in the sl i would have laughed, they have flair and play a type of rugby not to dissimilar to the top two that tells me they are learning.i have the upmost respect for nobby he got us out of a big hole but i think he needs to change tack or bring in an assistant with fresh ideas,or hard as it may be, he might have to end up walking away.

Was told it was Leeds' best ever score at Wigan. Did not realise it was Wigan's worst ever home defeat.

I'm afraid tonight it was men against boys.
Leeds were far superior in all aspects of the game.
It just goes to prove playing men out of position does not work.
Speed of thought, power on the burst, backing up the ball carrier it was there for all to see IMO Leeds are cumming good at just the right time.Grand final winners IMO.

The decision to move Tommy to hooker compounded the problems. Trent at 13 would have had a similar effect.
Colbon on the wing was a bad decision. We have a young winger who kicks goals, the fastest in the club, especially over short distance. He may have caught Smith on the intercept and certainly would not have been done by grubber kicks. He also scoots very well. Nicky Stanton.
We have an academy winger. He toured with GB. His GB teamate played tonight for Leeds and scored a late try. Our GB player will play for the academy this weekend. Shaun Ainscough.
A young second rower came on and was startled by the headlights like a rabbit. How many games could he have been brought on in. Lee Mossop. Give such players match time and they get better like Joel Tomkins.
Phelps? Would you give him a 3 year contract on what you have seen so far. Tonight was exactly what happened in Aus when he played centre v big centres. HE might make a very good full back but how would we know?
I agree with most of this in particular your comment about Trent mirrors something I said at the game which was, Noble doesn't know how to use Trent, TL and Smith in the same side. On what I saw tonight he's better off leaving one of them out of the side completely because he will screw it up having to think about how to use the three of them in the 17.
I will go further and say his substitution of Higham was a typical Noble pre-planned one that was going to happen regardless of the game situation.
I didn't think it was a good idea to take Higham off. Again at the game I mentioned to the bloke sat next to me Noble would be bringing Smith on but said who will he take off because Higham was having a good game.
It was just TL at hooker compounded the problem it was because taking Higham off was salso a mistake. One that has been made several times this season and this is general thing not just with Higham. Substitutions have been an issue right through the campaign.
Overall it just showed how far this side is behind Leeds. They were quicker than us, bigger than us and had better tactics that us. A 52 point drubbing at home is an utter disgrace but it is exactly what the team deserved out and shows how bad they are.
The worst thing is most of those players will be here next season and they are not good enough. And before anyone says we have no right to expect the best players etc etc at Wigan well Leeds have better players than us so if they can have them, we should be able to recruit them as well.
The season will be over in two week when we go out in the first round of the play-offs.
I won't be sorry because this is has bee the least enjoyable season I can remember in over 25 years. I am not joking as even 2006 had something this one lacked.
