What is the point, we have just won 2 do or die matches and are 80 mins from the GF and peple are moaning. I think some "supporters" of this club would rather Wigan lose every match and play crap just so they can get there weekly moan in.

Put a dummy in, put your cherry and white tinted specs on and enjoy it!! ( oh and try supporting the team)

Its called debate it is a free country and people can see beyond the last 2 games .I would love to see us win the GF just to round of a mediocre season.
So you are happy with this seasons results i take it ??????
Take your Cherry and White specs off and look beyond the play offs.
No "some supporters "would not see us lose every match [nobody in SL can say that we will every match]the moans have come in when the team has not played well.
I have watched and supported Wigan for the last 55 years and i do support the team
There is nothing more i would like than to see us silverware winning the GF.
Can you honestly say that if we won the GF that we deserve to be champions with a -50 points against us ??????????

Now I am really convinced.......there really are people out there with nothing better to do but moan.

In all sports there are teams, club and international, that come from nowhere at the right time of the season.

To win a league competition you have to pace yourself, especially when that competition ends in a play-off.
We have all heard the saying "It's a marathon not a sprint".

If we do win the Grand Final there will STILL be people out there spitting the dummy out.

So do you think the team planned this all along and some of the abject performances were because the team was pacing itself?

No they won't and that is a ridiculous accusation.

However some people are realistic and if we do win it will see it for what it is and that means it will be a fortunate and unexpected victory. Anyone who claims Noble is a master tactician and is prepared to ignore the 27 round league season is very easily pleased.

I am sure we will all dancing in the stadium if we get to OT and win it but IMO we can't have another season like the last two in the league and expect the fans fork out for season tickets. The message that would send is, is all you need to do is watch the four games at the end of the season.

The structure of the competition is partly to blame for this making that possible which is why I have never been a great fan of the playoff system for deciding who are the champions. It's all a bit "emperors new clothes" to me when people harp on about the intensity and so on. It's four games to win at most. Big deal.

If we win it as was mentioned before the champions will have had a negative points difference and won fewer games this year than last in the league. We will still be champions however because those are the rules but I find this a paradox. This was not a plan or the club timing its run to perfection! Anyone who thinks it is needs to wake up IMO. That doesn't mean we can't enjoy the play offs but if we do win it I think it throws up a lot of questions about the nature of the competition.

Don't worry Dave. If we do win it from fourth with a negative points difference, then you can be sure that our mates at the RFL will make sure that it can't happen again!

No I love having my tinted specs on, you should get some, everyone should!!!

Some people do that much moaning, how would you get on if you supported blackpool or someone like that? they have never seen success like we have and don't look like thay are ever going to win anything!!!

Be gratefull what you have got, were the most successful team of all time AND we are 80 mins away from the grand final, some supporters of other would give there granny away for that!!

DaveO wrote:The problem with this debate about Noble is I think some people can't see the paradox right in front of their eyes.

How is it a team that has had a season like ours which I firmly believe was the worst season I have watched in over 20 years, is 80 mins away from the grand final?

We shouldn't be anywhere near it but we are.

The answer to this is I think is obvious. It's the way the competition is structured. Get in the top six which clearly doesn't take a great deal given our record and you have shot at winning just four games (if you finish outside the top 2) to win the whole thing.

The question is what or who is motivating the team to try and win these four games?

I'd like to know what has changed because the tactics seem better, the players seem far more motivated and they actually look like a team.

It's great to be in this situation but you have to ask why have we had to put up with the league season we had and if Nobby has suddenly found the means to get the team to play why has it taken until now? It certainly can't be called a plan all along to do this.

It's very paradoxical that for 27 rounds we are all going mad at the way the team plays then all of a sudden the GF is a possibility. :eusa16:

Good post Dave. Hopefully not wasted.
I also agree good post.

I have said it all along that we have not had honest rugby all season. We pay our money to watch a team who goes through the motions and only turn it on or try to turn it on when they decide too.

It is not acceptable!

It seems to me, both from watching the lads, and reading between the lines of all the comments and interviews from the club, that it wasn't Noble that suddenly started motivating them.
It was firstly the fans, at the Huddersfield game, and then Ian Lenagan (and to some extent, Barrett).
Noble throughout that time kept insisting that there wasn't a problem, when it was clear to everyone else, both inside and outside the club, that there was.

I wasn't saying Noble is a great tactician, but are you seriously blaming him for the make up of the competition?

All he and the players are doing is taking advantage of it,

Of course we want to finish top of the league ,but ,at the moment we are not consitant enough.

It's there for all S L teams to do,just finish in the top 6 ,and you've got a chance.

And I still say that should we win the G F, there will still be one or two having a moan about something.
