Are we getting a Union coach?

Got a hot rumour from a source inside the club, or just something you heard down the pub? Then what are you waiting for, post it on The Rumour Mill.

Then we seem to have few, Bardford, and Leeds come to mind, although the Bulls game is still listed on sky teletext as being on the Friday in March, I thought we had moved it to Saturday to please SKY?

If this happens then it might not be the end of the world- he might bring fresh ideas and new tactics plus a hunger to do well!

The problem Wigan have had in recent times is that we have gone for 'experienced and successful' coaches- this has translated into coaches who have had their day and their gameplans/ training techniques/ tactics have become outdated- this is starting to be the case with Nobby and his 'one up, grind them down' rugby and was the case with 'flat attack' millward who went back to school in oz after leaving these shores.

I would be more concerned if IL cobbles a Jones & Farrell partnership together to appease the fans but the two don't get on- from what I have read Farrell has a huge ego.

Personally I think we should get Mr. Lam back- seems to be doing well and will be hungry whilst having loads of motivation and new ideas.
NOBLE OUT PLEASE- YOU'VE HAD TIME AND NOW MY PATIENCE HAS RUN OUT!

IT'S ONE THING TO LOSE, IT'S ANOTHER TO PLAY DIRE AND BORING RL AND THEN LOSE!

Fron the article in the oz paper

He said he had not received any formal offers from English Super League club Wigan, as had been reported, nor from any English rugby clubs - although Wasps and Leicester are said to be interested.

Note he has not had a formal offer. Does not mean discussions have not taken place, food for thought. Jim

I think in 2006 Noble was the right man for the job at Wigan when we were in a mess. There is the leadership aspect of coaching as well as the tactics and when we were all at sea on 2006 he was IMO a very calming influence. It is therefore very frustrating he has not been able to take us forward from 2006 where under him we played the best RL of his tenure here IMO.

I am not concerned about Farrell's ego but I do think this would be a popularist decision rather than one of any great sense.

I am not sure Lam is far enough removed from his playing days yet for a head coach job here. The expectation would be similar to one Edwards would face but whereas Edwards has coached at top level in RU and IMO could handle the pressure I think it could ruin Lam's career.

If we do get a new coach I'd want it to be one who fits in the aims of the club which as I see it has a lot to do with bringing through our own players but it also has to be one familiar with modern tactics. Kearney would not be a bad shout IMO.

I also think we need to replace Lydon. I think the coaches job is to coach the team not worry about all aspects of player development from the juniors to the first team. In recent years there has been a lot of talk about the coach choosing his players not the chairman. Well I think if you have a proper performance director the club eventually gets a production line of players that would form the biggest part of the pool the coach would have to pick from.

They would be presented too him and he would be expected to forge a team out of what the club under the performance director produced. Of course there would still be signings from outside the club and the coach could influence that but I feel under Noble he wants a team we have never had in terms if style of player and can't coach any other type of team. We need a coach who is adaptable.
