If IL offered Faz a job tomorrow, I think he would rip up his Saracens contract and bring Owen back with him.

He can offer him a job but he will never match the wages! i hope andy would do it anyway because of his love for the club i wish it would happen.

Sorry Shawcross, his last season at Wigan was the last reasonable one he was capable of doing. He knew that himself, hence taking the Kings ransom and an easier pension. All IMO of course.

I don't think that is correct. His last season for us was when he was reigning Man of Steel and Golden Boot winner wasn't it? You don't go from that to a crock overnight unless some unforeseen injury puts an end to a player.

What happened to him when he went to RU may well have finished him in that he was out for months with that toe injury (very nasty) and he then had a car accident that hurt his back.

Both these things were unfortunate accidents not some chronic recurring injury that meant he was already finished when he left Wigan. Had these two incidents not happened Farrell was such an athlete I am sure he could have played on at least another two years for us. Lets not forget his contract was not up when he left so originally he and the club thought this was feasible and I saw nothing to change my mind it wasn't in his final season for us.

Fully agree with your statements Dave, and to me he took up RU at his best possible time, and as I still say, it was probably he last good season in RL in 2004. The best boxers realise when their oponents are getting too tough and bow out. Faz did this with the Kings Shilling on top.

Watching an interview with him, it seems the car crash was far more damaging than he ever let on.

As a coach I would think he would need to start with say the Academy / Reserves or as an Assistant Coach with the intention of become Head Coach after say 3 years. Can you imagine being an Academy player and having Faz as your coach.

I wonder how much of a factor money is now. I would surmise Faz is very wealthy. He's been on great contracts from being 15 years old. He may have even benefitted from the SL War when lots of pro players made a killing. 14 years at Wigan on top money and then a big Union contract.

Don`t forget CP he also owns quite a few properties with Betts and Rads, although he was smart enough not to get involved in pubs.I have just watched a game when he was 17yrs old, and he still looked better than Fielding at that age.

He does indeed. I think Faz, Rads, Connolly have a group of houses/residential complex they paid for in Standish a few years ago (before the credit crunch). Somewhere down nr Bradley in Standish.

The injury siutation when he left us is a bit of grey area - he was reigning man of steel and GB, but his knees were knacked then. Throughout that off-season he was having cartilage problems and having physio to try and resolve the problem but really then he knew he needed surgery. When the rumours of his exodus to rugby u emerged he was recovering from the classic "minor trim surgery to clean up the knee".

I know this because at the time he was doing exercises in the gym similar to ones I was doing for a similar (thankfully resolved) injury and we had a detailed chat about knee injuries and their treatment and how much of a pain in the a**e they were.
