richards could get a british passport as he has an irish one ,as irish people north or south have the option of either.

Roberts, Feca, Richards & Riddell take 4 of those, so we can only keep two others.
Do Feca and Richards count as overseas players? I think Feca is a "Kolpak" and Richards is "Irish" so I am not sure they count on the quota. I also think both of those qualify as federation trained.

Bailey gets federation trained status as well but is a quota player.

I think only Roberts and Riddell on that list are non federation trained and on the quota but neither is out of contract (like Richards).

TL is federation trained and none quota.

Carmont is non quota (Samoan passport) and non federation trained.

So by my reckoning our quota players are Roberts, Bailey, Phelps, Smith and Riddell and we could keep any of Carmont, Richards, Feka and TL who are out of contract.

So in theory we could sign all the out of contract overseas players up again. I think that is correct anyway!

The 3 other overseas trained players:

Pat Richards
Feka Paleaasina
George Carmont
I am sure Richards like Bailey counts as federation trained. Both were already here when the club trained/federation trained rules came in so can, due to a concession by the RFL, apply for federation status.

The difference is (I think) even if they both get federation status Bailey will remain a quota player whereas Pat is non quota due to his Irish passport.

Also what about Feka? Kolpak or not? Regardless of that he should also be able to apply for federation trained status.

What is not clear to me is if you get federation status if you then do not count on the overseas quota.

I know not re the rules but Bailey needs to go and one from Farrell or Flannagan needs SL time. Likewise, Coley needs to go to allow Mossop or Davies SL time. If we can get some props out of O'C, Prekky, Mossop, Davies we can then the season after fire Fielden off and get a proper top gun prop. If the club do not think Goulding is the man/ready then Carmont must stay and Thornley must be earmarked for say 2011.

If I had to sign an overseas non prop forward it would be Campese / Soward in that order as a 6 to go with Sam T at 7. Plenty of good Aus / NZ props.
