It signals that Saints are now a selling club, probably to reduce debt as part of the new ground package.The local press already suggests that Saints are worried that Wigan will snatch Long. Which suggests that Saints want to off-load him to cut costs. As transfer money does not count on the salary cap why don't we use the Gasnier money to bid for Sculthorpe which if the signs are right might just work?

There is no Gasnier money really though, it would be at the expense of other players if he signed. We already have a few superb loose forwards, we don't need Paul Scully and definately not that little rat Long.

Offhand, I can't think of any Stains players that would get in our 1st team ahead of any of the existing players. (and I'm not saying that just because they are Stains players...we have had a few good ones off them in the past)
