I believe you're incorrect Eclipse,when Barret was playing for us his experience won us games-choosing the right options near the line etc etc.Your right they do make mistakes but not so many imo.

Think you are incorect but thats just my "opinion!!" you could put it down to him being quality and he was directing teams around long before he came to us when "shock" he did not have as much experience.
Quite simple if you are good enough your old enough, jeeze I have all the experience in the world and we would have 40 year old scrum halves running(limping) around
Not many half backs sudenly become class at 30 they have normally been so all their careers.
I think Baily is a good influence but he does not lead us round the field choosing options near the line.
I think it was Barrets class that won us games not his experience infact if we had got him a few years earlier(less experienced) pre all his injuries he would of been even better.

It is a very valid view though IMO Lucky. Andy Greg was leading Widnes around the pitch as a kid. Mike Ford and Shaun Edwards at Wigan. You could go on and on.

Nothing Sam Tomkins is doing now is any different from what he has been doing for 2 maybe 3 years.

Likewise, if you are hopeless at 16 you will be hopeless at 32, at 48 etc.

Surely sport/life is all about experiences? &gaining experience.
Greg/Edwards had great raw talent,over a period they gained experience both good and bad(ie mistakes they learned from them)
Get it 13 talent+experience = good/great players.
Those who dont learn from mistakes(experience)stay average

My father always taught me you cannot knock nothing where there is nothing. It applies to all walks of life. However, when we talk about sport that is primarily a physical activity then one has to recognise that your best years physically are at a relatively young age. Speed in particular declines with age whilst injuries take their toll and increase with age. Athleticism gives you the optimum time to gain experience and then extend your career using that experience.

Sam T is not going to get faster. He will get slower. Far better developing his game now when he is at his peak physically than waiting until he is 24+ when he starts to lose pace.

Phil Bailey? when did he peak as a player? I think it is safe to say when he represented his state and country which was several years ago. He is a more experienced player now but a worse player because what speed he has is now diminished. So in his case would the speed he had 6 years ago be worth more than the experience?

The only position I can think of where experience is worth more than speed/condition would be prop and even then the player has to be truly a class player.

When you look at lets say Sam T he has probably played the game already for 10 years. He will not get faster he may put muscle on. He led us around the field against Cas and droped a goal at a vital point class or experiance?

Greg, Edwards, Barret and Baily pick the odd one out
Baily could play now until the end of time and gain all the experiance in the world it will never make him the ball player any of the other three was at twenty.

Imo "experience" is the greatest myth in the game.

Do experienced players not make mistakes ?

The above was a fair coment the first is up for debate, given, the second part can be seen in every game you watch in every sport so was not wrong.
Baily is not a ball player like Barret and I would say we now have enough players with game time and who have played in big games to alow him to leave.
Experience wise we have a world cup winner with Lulu has that made him better? is Fielden better now or was he better when less experienced 4 years back?
I think it's class and fitness that shines through time after time.
