Whoah there WW. Thats not in the spirit of the salary cap is it. You'll have us in hot water!
Re: Let`s keep Georege Carmont
Get his family some tickets to go to the O2 arena, take them out for nice meals and put them up in a swanky hotel while they decide.

Re: Let`s keep Georege Carmont
Not sure about 2 years but if nothing better can be found give him it, like Wigan Watchers idea but who knows, if we could bring in a good prop, what can be made of Goulding or even Roberts or Thornley if we could off load Fielden maybe all the problems will disapear with him Celtic will anounce Noble Wednesday Fielden too follow??
Re: Let`s keep Georege Carmont
Who has been the better centre for us this season - Gleeson or Carmont?
Who gets paid more? I wouldn't be surprised if one year of Gleeson's salary is worth two of George's!
As Dave said, signing George for two years will mean that neither of the youngsters coming into the squad will have to be a main centre; they can both be introduced gradually. I can't see how the extra year is going to make a massive difference to cap space anyhow - we'll be rid of Fielden by then.
If we don't resign him then I would imagine that a whole host of clubs would be only too happy to give him a significant pay rise

Re: Let`s keep Georege Carmont
I was going to come "online" to mention something that DaveO has touched upon! If it a straight choice for either keeping Daryl Goulding OR George Carmont, which way would fans decide???
Everyone is saying "keep both", but will Daryl wait another season or will his spell at Salford have fired his desire for more first team rugby? (and should Wigan prevent him from that)
I could imagine a back-line (not withstanding any possible signings) of...
Phelps
Richards
Goulding
Gleeson
Ainscough
Tompking
Leuleui
A combination of youth AND experience within the backline. As for Gleeson - he is going no where soon, so everyone can stop the ridiculous posts saying that we shouldn't have signed him etc etc. He is a Wigan player for the next few years - like it or not, so get over it!

Another point to remember.
If, Wigan decide to keep Carmont and this precipitates the moving on of Goulding, will fans berate IL for letting another junior leave and criticize him for not giving young players a chance within the team as happens everytime any player departs
Talk about hypocrisy.

George Carmont
His agent is still in negotiations with Mr Lenegan about renewing his contract. His kids are really settled here and they love it here at Wigan, and he doesn't want to uproot them.
St Helens have been showing an interest......
And Nobby would like to take him to Celtic!!!

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.

that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Re: George Carmont
Hope we keep George. If the stumbling block is the issue of one or two years. Then give him the two.We do not want the Stains poaching any of our players.I would have liked George to accept a one year deal but would not really worry to much if it turned out to be two in order that we retained his services.

Re: George Carmont
If any of our senior players offer value for money it's George. The man is a consummate professional and has been one of most consistent performers over the last two years. What's more he not only links well with Pat - but also with Sam.
Even if he doesn't play a great deal in the second year of the contract he will still have given better value for money than some of our "star" players and he can pass on knowledge and experience to the youngsters that will be coming through the ranks

I understand GC has a rather large brood so it's obvious
he doesnt want to uproot them.I would suggest the stains
romour is purley that.I for one would only offer a one year
extension -no more. There's no negotiating take it or leave it.
