Brother knows Mossop he told him MM is killing them in training

Going into the new season i wish we had a enforcer prop signed up.

But i think this squad is good enough to improve the amount we need to finally get the final place.

To continue with Paul Deacon, as connected to your thread:-
Pat's goal kicking dropped off last season, not sure if it was an injury, but it was poor in comparison to the standard I am sure he sets himself.
Paul Deacon is an excellent goal kicker too, which will be relief to Pat if required.
I was concerned about Paul Deacon coming to Wigan, and made comment as such in a previous thread, but maybe this signing isnt as bad as I initially thought.

The noises from the camp appear to be optimistic and it's good to hear that the players, including the internationals, were eager to get into training.

I'd like to see some silverware next season, but realistically, our option is the Challenge Cup rather than the League as not only do we have to hit the ground running straight away with the League, we have to do it with virtually a new backroom team and presumably a new framework for the playing staff to follow.

That's not to say that I wouldn't be pleased if we win the League but optimism has to be tempered with a dose of realism.

Iam very hopeful that the new coaching team will make a big difference in 2010,and i also think Deacon will prove a good signing and IMO is a better goalkicker than Richards who seemed to go off the boil last season.I am still worried however that our props are second rate and feel we are still only have a chance of the Challenge Cup but the Grand Final.Probably will get in the top 8 but not above 6th as other sides have recruited well.I do hope however that i am wrong.

The team was winning and the best performing team second half last year. Deacon apart we are fielding the same side which is Noble's team. Fitness early on was a problem. That will fall to the fitness coach. Yes we get excited about a new coach but let's judge him on his merits. Otherwise if expectations are too high we will do to him what we did to Noble and the team. Rip them apart.

The fact it is basically Noble's team is what makes it interesting.

What I expect to see is a fitter team, a better tactics and a team picked on merit. If all that happens then it should do better than it did under Noble all other things being equal.

Unfortunately not all things are equal and other sides have strengthened and we can't rely on Wire being as bad in the league again so "Old Hooker" may have the most realistic outlook on next season. We could do worse in terms of where we get in the cup or playoffs but actually be fitter and playing better because it's obviously not just up to us whether we win matches or not.

As to fitness falling to the fitness coach that is his job but it's the head coaches job to make sure he does it. As fitness was a problem with us under Noble it was ultimately his fault and responsibility the side looked unfit, as it will be if we still look unfit under MM.

I got a really positive feeling about the upcoming season its the subtle differences like take Sam Tomkins always a popular topic;

BN -If he can keep his feet on the ground, I'll certainly keep them there for him and he's a Wigan boy through and through, but again, let's not put him in the universe team

MM - He is very young and has got a lot of experience to develop, but I think over time he can develop into a great of the rugby league game

From that statement alone i think it tells you so much about the differences in attitude that will be around the joint

Feeling more optimistic about next season the more the close season progresses and all the good vibes coming out of the club.IL and MM are getting things right on the coaching side all its down to now is the players response to the new set up.If rumours are right at Saints the players were not happy because Potter was flogging them lets hope our players respond positively????

Very good observation and gives a clear indication of the difference in attitude. I think MM is out of the "if you are good enough you are old enough" school of thought whereas Noble was you are never good enough until you are old enough type.

It's not what you say sometimes but the way that you say it. With the young players Noble always seemed to end on a negative. "He had a great game but..." is a lot different to "..he is a young and inexperienced but didn't he play well?"
