Ah yes, but what you're forgetting is that Gaz has bulked up alot and being looked at as a Prop rather than second row, so we can have both

It depends. If Hock returns the penitant sinner and does what Mcguire tells him to, we could be onto a winner. If he's still in the market for Tomfoolery and bullshit, he'll very quickly get edged out.

If I was IL I would have him on an escalating performance related contract and I'd have very explicit clauses on repurcussions for use of recreational drugs or bringing the reputation of the club into disrepute. We're in strong position with our existing squad.

One thing that worries me with Gaz is not his ability to work hard in training, to keep fit or stay off the drugs, but whether he is able to change the way he thinks on a rugby field. I know I've mentioned it loads of times but I still remember a game at 'Caravan' Park just before Nobby dropped Goulding where Dobson kicked us all over the place and we were defending set after set and were losing. When we finally got possession for the first time in ages we were in our own half and Hock decided to go to dummy half on the second tackle, knocked on under no pressure whatsoever and put the team under even more pressure and we were soundly beaten. The reason I remember it so well is partly because it was at a point in the game where we could have built some pressure and still could have won and partly because it was Goulding who was dropped despite him doing very little wrong when we had players like Hock and Phelps (new at the club) were making mistakes and giving away penalties but still getting picked week in week out. I just hope the brainfarts Hock is prone to are something that can be coached out of him and not just part of who he is as a person.

Hopefully all this inappropriate selection will have changed under Madge & co, Gaz.

I don't doubt it for a second mate and as much as anyone I want Gaz to put in performances he's capable of, it might help him being part of a winning team with a winning mentality?
