Hopefully all this inappropriate selection will have changed under Madge & co, Gaz.gpartin wrote:One thing that worries me with Gaz is not his ability to work hard in training, to keep fit or stay off the drugs, but whether he is able to change the way he thinks on a rugby field. I know I've mentioned it loads of times but I still remember a game at 'Caravan' Park just before Nobby dropped Goulding where Dobson kicked us all over the place and we were defending set after set and were losing. When we finally got possession for the first time in ages we were in our own half and Hock decided to go to dummy half on the second tackle, knocked on under no pressure whatsoever and put the team under even more pressure and we were soundly beaten. The reason I remember it so well is partly because it was at a point in the game where we could have built some pressure and still could have won and partly because it was Goulding who was dropped despite him doing very little wrong when we had players like Hock and Phelps (new at the club) were making mistakes and giving away penalties but still getting picked week in week out. I just hope the brainfarts Hock is prone to are something that can be coached out of him and not just part of who he is as a person.
