I've just come back onto the site and seen what a hornets nest I seem to have stirred up. That wasn't the intention at all but I'm afraid that you do have to put up with my rah-rahs, as you will have already seen there are a lot worse things your game can be called! There was no way that Wigan could ever hope to compete with RU's wage offer to Ashton anymore than Aussie RL can compete against the silly money offerred to the likes of Tiquiri, Gasnier etc but I live in France for 3 months each spring/summer and watch their top 14 on TV. You will be only too aware of the steady move of some very good British players to Frog RU starting at the very top with The Blessed Jonny, thats where the real money is, see the comments from one poster about French RU stealing French RL money in the war, its true by the way, but I have to say that watching the top 14 in France was better than watching Wigan when Noble was coach, now of course the world is back on its true axis and Rugby as played by Wigan last season was as good as it gets. Treat yourself to a ticket to Wigan on Good Friday for a real hardfought match with (hopefully) lots of scintillating Wigan tries.

Come on Ian, OK the rugby with Nobby wasnt always the best, but to make a comparison with rugby union is a fraudulent statement.
It has never been as bad as any form of rugby union and never could be.

But you are missing the salient point Panchitta that it was frog RU I was comparing it against and on a weekly level that is far better than even the International French side because they have all these stars from around the world and they do throw it about with gay abandon and it was better than watching our side a la Noble!
I have to say as well that my season ticket has just got a lot better value as well since I can now miss 3 matches whilst away in France each spring and then get an extra ticket 3 times when we come back. Good marketing by Wigan although I accept that I may be an extreme example but they obviously do listen to fans grumbles. The only trouble is that this year Mrs Ian.Birchall has vetoed our original departure date of April 29th for some reason? and said we are leaving one week later this year so les vacances francais are only going to be 9 weeks! Merde!!
