Scrapping the U20s Competition
Re: Scrapping the U20s Competition
merging does not really work as neither set of supporters feel it is their club & the resulting club is neither one of the other. SL & the RFL need to get out & promote the game.

As long as people live in the past, the game will continue to have problems like the Bradford club and continue to struggle to attract new supporters in a society where football is now rammed down people's throats.

Why rfl cannot devise a form of a pools competition as a money spinner I don't know. Each club selling coupons so those promoting it can draw income related to effort. Using SL, CH and CH1 as the basis. Pools made football. People had an interest in results across the board not just their own team. If the prize is big enough people will play. People become interested, people go to matches. People discus it in the pub or club. It comes alive. At the moment as stated on another thread it is a whinger sport for depressed flat cappers. RL does not self sell. Someone has to get out there and do it. Football is approaching self destruct where the game demands more than it makes. If viewing figures continue to drop the tv advertisers will pull out and the big sky and tv cheques will stop. We have a far better product but we are lousy at marketing it. Jim
