Lol, they've already started on FB from some young fans
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
Now let me get this right, people went across to Hull (knowing that a weakened side was being put before you) to watch a Wigan reserve side get beaten, paying top dollar for the privilege? I'm speechless.
Please tell me this disrespect for the paying customer will stop from the hierachy in WRLFC
I see nothing wrong with selecting such squads as long as it is clear beforehand. I know Leigh blocked Wigan from stating it was a Wigan Reserve Team or something similar.
Another way to look at it, the youngsters get valuable experience and the established first teamers are not over utilised. I believe KR only have one game left pre season. We still have 3.

They went as expected - they got well beaten in both games and so how anyone can draw any conclusions about the young players in mismatched games like this I don't know.
A quite predicable outcome and so in my opinion we have simply done Leigh and HKR a favour by given their teams some match practice.
Maybe the motivation for taking part in these games was different anyway. Send a team to HKR as part of the transfer deals and keep Leigh sweet so we can loan them players given the lack of a proper reserve competition. I hope so because from a Wigan point of view they were IMO pointless.

A tried and tested method of junior development is to put your team in the age group above competition for a season. They get beaten more oten than not BUT the season after you play them against their own age and they often rarelt if ever lose a game.
We (fans) often complain about not giving youngsters opportunities. Hey presto youngsters get 2 good opportunities and some still complain. I daresay, Wane Et Al have a much better idea now which youngsters can potentially step up and are worth keeping with the first team and which others need to go on dual contract / loans.
I do not see these 2 defeats as any cause for concern personally.

I agree. The thing is Wane needs to know who too keep at the club and who to loan out. We started off pretty well yesterday and it was only when Crosby went off that HKR started to get on top. Wigan probably had 14 players missing yesterday. The score didn't really reflect the match, Murphys two dropped balls, one conceded a try and the other failed to score and the scoreline would have been closer. On the positive side, Hampshire looked better playing with better players, Powell was my Wigan mom and although I'm not his biggest fan Logan Tomkins played well. I hope Greg Burke continues to improve and becomes the player a few of us always thought he could be. Manfredi was also a pleasant surprise, I thought he would be behind Burgess in the pecking order. So I don't see any major cause for concern.
Maybe this will shed a bit of light on why Wane has only played teams of youngsters against Leigh and Hull KR. Then again, the posters who seem to think that they know better than an experienced coach will just fob it off and go back to their "he doesn't know what he's doing / what a waste of time" mantra
