After Ratchford Smith & Moon, I was under the impression that if anyone was left at Salford, it was because nobody else wanted them,

I say again, if no one else is left at salford why would saints want to sign him ? the other 3 players were approached by 3 of the biggest clubs in the sl, this could be the same

Hope we don't get Broughton or Foster. I personally don't see much in either of them except Foster's kicking. I think the answer is Tom Briscoe as for me he is the one that can produce the most tries as in my opinion his finishing abilities are amongst the best in the world!

Hi all, new to the site.

On this subject, IMO I reckon Pats replacement will not be from our existing academy squads, I think IL will buy from elsewhere. 'BUY' being the emphasised word.
There has been mention of Foster, mainly due to his goal kicking abilities. Foster is a decent winger IMO, but not good enough for Wigan RL. If the worst comes to worst Smith can take over kicking duties, it is not imperative for us to sign a goal kicking winger/player, Smith is not too bad.
Dixon from London has been mentioned, he's ok, still, not good enough for Wigan. Although it would not surprise me to see him in a cherry and white shirt.
I expect to see a replacement for Pat coming in from Aus.
Briscoe, I expect will have signed for NRL team by end of year.[/quote]

Welcome NeeNaw, do you drive an ambulance or a Fire Engine?

Realistically, who would be your choice? Don't see much NRL myself but I believe it is awash with wingers!

Haha maybe!

I'm the same, I admit I'm not always up to date with NRL player news/availability, but what is common knowledge is that the NRL 3/4 player ability is generally better than ours. With regards to the availability these days, I'm not so sure, due to the pound being terrible against the dollar, but surely Wigan can afford to splash the cash for an adequate replacement?
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for home grown talent, and British players, but honestly, I can't identify a winger that fits the bill from those two categories.

We wouldn't exactly have our choice of NRL wingers. There are plenty of fast powerful guys who can play, but are very green, error prone players. We might not be even to pick one of them up, so then you're looking at any player who has an injury history or character issues if we signed someone from Aus.

No we wouldn't have our pick of the wingers from the NRL, but I assume we will have a few quid lying round at the end of the season, compared to the majority, if not all of the super league teams. So we should be able to afford a quality replacement, wages included.
I'm not saying revert back the days of buying over the hill Aussies as replacements for outgoing players. We have quality youth to replace the positions of halves and back/front rows, and maybe full back. What we lack is quality wingers ready to step up from next year, and there is certainly a lack of British quality available from next year.
