Manchester Magic

Didn't go this year but I think the weekend being in Manchester is a success. The concept has evolved hugely and it really is the 'third' outing of the season for our sport and something which our game needs.

My only question going forward are the fixtures... I still wouldn't be happy playing a top 4 side every year when Catalans get London for example. Should be random with '1-sided games' (eg Wigan v London) starting off proceedings and the more equally matched fixtures (St Helens v Hull) at the end.

Still, whatever the way it won't make everyone happy but luckily we played someone other than St Helens.

On my way back from the game, a really good hard fought win I thought, it was a tense affair, but I think these games are much better to watch than being 40 points in front at half time games, although they are easier on the heart. Anyway well done to the boys :thum:

I know what you mean Deb but your heart must have been much more at risk in other games in recent years. EG, Good Friday 2010 and Faz crossing in the last minute!

We were the better team tonight and soaked up everything they threw at us. And be in no doubt, they gave it their best shot!

Just been on the Whino's forum. We didn't win the match, they were robbed. We got all the 50/50 calls and McGuire's try should have been allowed. There were some who agreed that Bailey is a liability, but in the main they handled all our best players. they were unlucky that Snidefield was off kicking form. They cannot say thet were beaten by a better team.

The amount of underhanded, loaded, cheating calls has to be seen to be believed, I didn't hear the Sky commentary, just watched the screen,
The new RLFC adjudicator has got a lot on his plate to sort this lot out, the refereeing was abysmal.
Shaun Wane has produced a honest, hard working set of players who don't need to play to subterfuge, or rise up to baited tactics, discipline won the day.
RLFC Headquarters would not be happy about the result this evening, Leeds were supposed to win.
If the RLFC Headquarters were in Lancashire?
hopefully Cummins will see the error of his ways and oversee the corruptness he has developed.

I agree about the fixtures. Why does it have to be an extra game e. Play whatever fixture would be due that weekend.

Fully agree with you...I think that was how a game should be..brutal tackling,end to end action,some mistakes and a few descisions that make us all shout at the T V....more please.. :thum: p s...does anybody know why some of my words keep underlining in red as I press the space bar?

Don't much see the point of these RoboRefs. I do like the overhead camera that's flying around the pitch. I think it would be better if the Magic weekend was held at maybe the Reebok stadium, at least we would see a capacity or near capacity ground. I can't help but think that if we're promoting the game in all its splendour it doesn't look good when the stadium isn't even half full for most of the time.

couldn't agree more crowds were pretty poor ,great concept though but needs a bit more thought about how we come across to neutrals with half empty stadiums .If it was the other code it would have been bursting at the seams both days with great advertising .

I don't think it would have been different if it was union teams. The average attendance in the Aviva premiership is less than that of Superleague, and the figures are getting worse not better. Leicester tigers rarely fill Welford road and that has a capacity of only 17,000, and the supporters that do turn up are, in my experience, even more parochial than league supporters.
