Phil Clarke summed it up best when he said "if that was an aggressive forward it would of been different" that is true and just highlights the problem we have with refs. Just because briers is a little s@it shouldn't mean his punches bring less punishment than one from a big fella

He also said if he is called up before the judiciary and gets a Grade A charge (which is 99.9% likely) then enters an early plea, he would likely as such "get off" so this is a storm in a teacup about a player who Wigan should have learnt to defend against years ago. I enjoy seeing him blubber when they lose and that would be another sweet moment

It should have been a sin binning, but it won't be a ban. Pretty clean record, he hasn't taken an early guilty plea in last 12 months, it was only one punch rather than being sustained. Despite it appearing unprovoked and was to a fairly defenseless player as he was a bit turned around, the recommendation will probably be a charge but with a range of 0-1 games ban, with the option of EGP meaning no games but no EGP option for 12months, so next time he is a bad boy he might get a ban.

Three players have been charged with offences committed in last weekend’s Super League and Kingstone Press Championship play-offs.

Lee Briers of Warrington Wolves has been charged with Grade A punching in the 22nd minute of the Super League qualifying play-off against Leeds Rhinos.

Eloi Pelissier of Catalan Dragons has been charged with the Grade A offence of standing on an opponent in the 57th minute of the Super League elimination play-off against Hull FC.

Johnny Campbell of Batley Bulldogs has been charged with making a Grade B high tackle in the 80th minute of the Kingstone Press Championship preliminary semi-final against Leigh Centurions.

The players were charged after the incidents were viewed by the RFL Match Review Panel earlier today. All three have until 11.00am on Tuesday September 17 to submit Early Guilty Pleas.

What's the betting that briers gets off with a warning!

Isn't Grade A 0-1 game ban, therefore EGP means no ban.
