To be fair with the football club he has a far better record re 'loyalty' with the likes of Jewell, Bruce, Martinez.

If Whelan does not have confidence in whomever he appoints, it is game up for whomever they are BUT it also brings into question his judgement.

Personally I think he made a bad choice in Coyle and has made a better one in Rosler.

Your judgement like many Latic's supporters being no doubt based on his connection with Bolton Wanderers, both as a player and a manager.

If Coyle had any sense, he would never have even put in for the job as he should have known that anyone with a connection with nearby Bolton was on a loser, especially with the idiot element of the Latic's support.

Would you like to work for Whelan because I won't!

No, I could not care less where a manager has been previously. I think Coyle had some great success but that has for the last couple of seasons been on the decline. Perhaps he has had his day?

Right or wrong, Coyle has struggled to enjoy a rapport with fans at most clubs he has been at.

I think Martinez to Coyle was too great a jump in philosophy and in recent seasons signings by Coyle suggest he has lost focus.

Coyle was always on a loser at the Latic's because of his association with Bolton and was subjected from what I understand from a friend who is a Latic's supporter, to some not very nice personal and foul mouth abuse since his appointment.

Hardly surprising that he offered his resignation!

If Rosler follows the same path, I hate to think what comments he will get seeing where he comes from!

WW, your 'problem' is that you make quantum leap assumptions re people's views; the rationale for those views AND/OR that everybody holds the same view. Whatever the sport, whatever the club, whatever the manager; there will ALWAYS be a small minority who have extreme views, disasteful views.

It coulde be easily argued I hold extreme views, some may say distasteful (I would say not) BUT that does not mean every forum user here hold the same views, behaves exactly the same. FAR FROM IT!

The post relegation season is a very difficult one in football because the expectation of success / immediate return is HUGE and if it looks unlikely then you can / will expect a backlash.

I do not think Coyle for whatever reason has endeared himself to fans at several clubs which rules out 'its just the Bolton connection' BUT Whelan has to hold his hands up too because by recognising it was the wrong appointment, Whelan GOT IT WRONG TOO.

Fans are just that, some will always complain because human nature is weighted to negativity / complaining.

Whelan got it wrong?

No, Whelan got it right as IMO he has no real desire to get back into the Premiership irrespective of what he says in public. What he is more concerned about now is not slipping out of the Championship and that was the way recent results were showing that they were heading that way. People should take note that yet again he has not appointed a more high profile and successful Manager.

As for your last comment, that could also apply to some that come on this website.
