Bateman having a laugh at himself in buying Euros for his trip to the USA doesn't seem like a man who'd be leaving anytime soon.
Hope he does stay as he's a very good player!

Size and speed seems to be a fixation for you?

You can forget the stories of Bateman being unsettled, I have just spoken to him ( He lives in Appley Bridge by the canal) and he has said that it is a load of rubbish about him being home sick, he said he really loves it at Wigan.
Straight from the guys mouth at 3pm today.
Ps he is also bigger than you think, I thought around 5ft 10 ins but he is closer to 6ft 2 ins

If this is what you are refering to menpond then what as this got to do with Rugby League and John Bateman?
Deedes was close to Margaret Thatcher and her husband Denis. The spoof letters "from" Mr. Thatcher which appeared in satirical magazine Private Eye throughout the Thatcher years were always addressed to Dear Bill - the "Bill" in question was usually assumed to be Deedes; however some instalments (e.g. 16 May and 28 November 1986) would suggest otherwise.
The two men regularly played golf together, with Deedes claiming it was a public service to take the spouse of the Prime Minister away from the stress of being married to the country's head of government.
The Eye also based its long-running editorial comment, "Shome mishtake shurely?", on Deedes' distinctive slur.

Thanks Josie appreciate that.Though fixing my post still does not make it any easier to understand menponds post.

I wonder if menpond has always had a problem with size?

A lot of contributors seem to be fixated with menpond!
Is it the "Lord of the Flies" syndrome?

If his contributions over the last few months have been engineered to create controversy, then I reckon he's cracked it.
However, I blame the drink for those posts which are difficult to understand, his fingers just fairly sizzle over the keypad and he doesn't seem to read it before submitting, earning him unkind replies.
A lot of what he says may be contentious to others but if he creates discussion, well, it can't be that bad and there will always be that person who has said "I told you so" after a loss, or "Didn't I say that would happen" when there's an injury crisis.
Menpond is covering all feasible outcomes.
