I listened to the Wish FM coverage, we can get net coverage at work.
It mentioned Moose being awarded MOM that seemed strange according to Bilko and the other radio pundit.
Just seen Dave O's thread, Gelling got three tries which seems a big positive plus the younger guns like Manfredi and Hampshire seeming to fit in.
Wakey fielding such a weakened side doesn't make it easy to decide if were getting better as there seemed to be some poor options taken with periods of sloppy play.
Based on this Wakey team and last years Wigan team this result would surely have been nearer 100 points on the board and not just the 50 we scored last night?
Don't be fooled, it was a very competent display, not perfect but imo, 80% of the way there and something to be quite pleased about.

Wakefield were poor and depleted by injury. But that shouldn't move us away from the fact that we did things right in this game, for the most part. We put pressure on in defence and wrestled well in contact, we ran hard in attack and looked to create things. We played some decent structured stuff with a few wrinkles to or normal set ups and played some exciting off the cuff stuff that was going to hand much more often than not. 15 clean breaks and 28 successful offloads (massive number for Wigan under Wane) on the stats back those points up.
I thought all the starting forwards played well, as did Tautai off the bench. Bateman put in a real shift and ran the ball bigger than his size. Liam F and Joel T were similarly top performers. Clubb for me was man of the match though, whoever gave it to Mossop must have mixed the two up!
Hampshire was safe under high balls although never really pressured on any of them. We'll need to offer him protection on them if he plays next week. But in attack he grew in to the game and started to pop up everywhere in the second half, his speed allowing him to support everything going on, then get in to position for the structure plays.
The only thing that went poorly was the last tackle plays, particularly to Williams side or where Smith was caught in the 5th tackle. A combination of players in the wrong places and the ball not coming out of dummy half well.
A note on a topic after last week's game. All our props had over 10 carries. As a side we had 60 more carries than last week, so that isn't shocking they also saw more ball, but I think there was a better emphasis on them getting the ball particularly early in the game. Clubb, Mossop, Farrell and Bateman set the tone early with some good simple forward runs and fast potbs.

We not only needed a win, but also a better points difference and therefore did what any team would do in the circumstances.
We are undefeated at home with a maximum 6 points out of 6 but away only 1 point out of 8 in away games.
That problem needs to be rectified!

Give it a rest with your constant sniping .Thus far ????? When where you born in Henry V111s time? We won convincingly with a damned good performance.Let's enjoy and build on it for next week.
Re: Wigan v Wakey
First time this season that our pack has controlled the middle of the pitch. I'd be more optimistic if we had done that against better opposition but on balance it was good to see how the backs can play and score points if our front 6 performs. Need to play same pack vs Saints and try and get some consistency going.

Terrific week end for us. Others losing, saw first half of Saints /hull kr,and still think we have a decent squad,so get team and plan right and everything toplay for. We are all better when HULLS are both strong.

Re: Wigan v Wakey
You can only beat whats put in front of you and Wigan did that pretty well, wakefield were as others have said awful but given the side they had out it was always,on paper at least going to be a convincing Wigan win.
For me Bateman and Gelling stood out granted i could have scored one of his trys but he did better thanhe has done this season as in fairness they all did.
So no not back to their best but given the game coming up it was a game if nothing more a win that should give them a lift into fridays game.
