Not the player he was but also that decision did not cost us the game. Their last try did (was a bad one to concede) and the last 15 minutes where no one apart from Faz and Bowen looked like creating anything.
Gildart out of position and caught in no mans land was one of the main reasons for the last try. Hasn't been picked up by many on here.
The decision changed the game but didn't really change it enough. Going for the 6, going for a repeated set, pinning Leeds down would have allowed the potential to get back into the arm wrestle, put them under pressure, pin them down and force the error.
I agree on both. People are blaming a lot of things but we were not good enough on the day. We played well for 15 minutes and Leeds could not live with us.
Very much. listen to Leeds players post match and they were running on empty but credit to them they kept going but we allowed them repeatedly to do so with dumb RL. Worse the dumb actions often came from our experienced players / coach.
The try were Gildart pushed up was 1 great thinking by DM and 2 poor defence by other Wigan players not to first push up (Budgie seemed to be waiting for a kick) but then AGAIN experiened players not covering / not making tackles.

Never criticised him before. So go figure?

Lockers initially had a lot of doubters and big boots to fill. He has had a period where he hasn't really had many knockers and has consistently been the best loose in super league.
Last season he had his injuries but played very well when he was in the team.
This season he has had his injuries but never really looked anything like he used to be.
All facts.

I agree, doing the same next year (and I'm not talking about whether to kick at goal or run the ball) will result in the same outcome - no trophies!

Didn't say you have criticised him before but to say his response to the question about taking 2 points is a poor reflection on him, is imo wrong.
At the time, taking the points was a rational choice. If we scored the next try, which at the time looked very likely, we are then 8 points up and clear favourites to win.
As it turned out, this decision is being pointed out as the pivotal moment in the game, when other choices, events etc were more important.

Is it rational Jobo? The Leeds players to a man said they were shattered in that second half. We supposedly had the edge in the second half and we are in the lead by 2 points. A kick to touch would take us yards from the Leeds line. If we score we have a 6 point + lead against a shattered team. Instead we show no self belief in ourselves, we show no reflection of what is happening and how tired Leeds will be and make a NOTHING decision and that is what it was. Even worse Lockers said I would go with the flow; what the hell does that mean and if the flow is in your favour you go for the kill. A 2 pointer gives Leeds time to recover, communicate and kick the ball deep into the Wigan half.
The decision lacks courage / belief and is incredibly negative and desperate.

One slight problem with the going for 6 the same we have had all year we cant score how any repeat sets at Saints and still no try! all our plays in the last 10 yards are so predictably.

May as well give up then.
To be honest I think we are reasonable at scoring near an opponents try line.
