You may disagree but to me this shouts 'Come back Iestyn Harris'
He obviously was an effective attack coach.

I would say more to do with the players we had than Harris, but maybe I am wrong!!

2010 - +19 per game [1st + GF Winners] (Under Madge)
2011 - +16 per game [2nd] (Under Madge)
2012 - +20 per game [1st]
2013 - +13 per game [4th + GF Winners]
2014 - +15 per game [2nd + GF loser]
2015 - +9 per game [2nd + GF loser]

The reason I've done per game is that we obviously played more games in 2015. The other thing to note is we played more 'competitive' games, with two fewer easy beats in the regular season and more games against the top 8 teams.

I've put the outcome in brackets, because that shows there's not a great deal to take from these numbers in terms of deciding whether we'll win the big prize.

Cheers markill, I think it's safe to say there is not really a trend but obviously winning more often is more important than winning convincingly less often!!

How did we do?

I must admit, this always was going to be a hard game given our injuries, form and then losing Lockers so I am happy regardless. We did almost allow another comeback which seems to be a trend this year.

Quick watch of the highlights and all of the Hull tries scored down 1 side... Sarginson directly at fault for two tries by shirt grabbing and Williams directly at fault for another...

What caused the switch of Sarge to FB? Did it work?

Our tries didn't look thrilling. Flower spotted a gap, as did Williams, but the Smith grubber was poor initially but luckily nutmugged the Hull PLayer. Charnley try was good.

What is the issue with our attack? It is getting worse and worse.
It will never be any different as long as we have two half backs or should I say two Scrum Half's not gelling together as they should be and no proper Stand Off like other clubs have to create play.

Now even got another Scrum Half playing permently at Hooker/Dummy Half instead of a specialist one.
If you stick to the facts it was the Hull halfbacks that failed! FAR MORE POSSESSION AND FIELD POSITION. Never seen halfbacks who would do amazing with as little possession and field position as the Wigan halves had last night YET both made a difference!
If you think so, but I will go with those who like myself think that our half backs are the cause of the problem of our poor attack as they are not functioning as they should be, especially when we reach the 20 metere line where we end up running around like headlesss chickens as a result of the lack of creative play like you see from the half back combinations of other clubs.

In the 2014 season, we had the same problem when Stand Off Green was out injured, but on his return, things vastly improved with more creative play from the half backs.

Perhaps another reason why we are poor in attack is the fact that we no longer have a Assistant Coaches like former backs, Harris and Deacon coaching the backs.

Gone off thread, apologies to Josie.

What's people's thoughts about Joe Mellor, was he released prematurely by Wigan?

Yes IMO
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

I kept the faith and enjoyed the game as well
Let's is a contraction of “let us.” You use it to make suggestions about what you and someone else should do. Let's is NOT a promise

Yes, not sure why exactly but when Sam T was a halfback and a year or so earlier they never really gelled as a pairing. The best partnership with Sam in the halves was a non partnership whereby Stuart Howarth played 7 and simply passed the ball to Sam.

Joe did have an injury which did not help, knee IIRC. For me he was kept back in the U18s too long which was great for results but not for his development.

Definitely released too soon , he has been one of Widnes best players for the last 3 seasons.
