Re: Sandow gone

Got something to discuss about RL in general? Then this is the place to post it.

Its a shame because if you could give his natural talent to someone like smith with his work ethic you would get a damn good player
I totally agree with you, is it a society thing? Someone like Matty Smith develops their work ethic to make up for the lack of natural talent to enable them to get a game, whereas those with natural flair are so mollycoddled and pandered to, with everything handed to them on a plate, they never develop the work ethic and throw a strop when things don't go their way.
sigh, Smith has left us and still people have to try and bash him, Smith had plenty of Natural Talent, what he wasnt was a Talented Goal kicker, thats not his fault, he was given the job as he was the best available in training, not because he wanted it.

you don't stay in SL teams as long as he has on work ethic alone, Stains - salford - Wigan - Stains.

but to put it on topic, Sandow if he didnt have his Behavior/form issues is the perfect example of what a marquee player should be, the team managed perfectly without him but when he was on he added that bit extra and caused all sorts of issues.
These are two reasons not to trust people.
1. We don't know them.
2. We do know them.

his reasons for leaving be what may arent what is in question, there a very strong consensus of how he has dealt with personal issues.

i think on a personal level leaving maybe the best thing for him if he has a better support structure over there, but i think he has let himself down in the manner in which he as left.

Its like some players just have a self destruct button

Reported in the Aussie media that he wants to go into boxing instead !

Has admitted he's handled the Warrington contract situation poorly, saying it's all down to bad communication from him, owing to his Aboriginal background !

This one was always going to end in tears, imo.

I was not having a go at Matty, he had enough skill to get to play at the pinnacle, but he was not as naturaly gifted, didn't shine as much as some other players, therefore developed his work ethic, which I see as a good thing. Read Radders book he says the same thing about himself.
I was comparing that attitude to the likes of Sandow, Hampshire, Carney and at the extreme Rangi Chase who throw a strop, or go off the rails when things don't go their way after having had everything handed to them on a plate during their formative years.

It's interesting that Wigan didn't put up to much of a fight when Saints approached them for Smith, any idea why?

Maybe Tommy returning and perhaps the last two years of Smith's contract would have been when he was to be paid the most money.

FPN off to saints for 2017 - according to the above media release.

Check out the section "Players leaving" on Canberra Raiders In's and Out's and there, not what I expected to read ! Hope he's not had any second thoughts !
