Hi, kas, and welcome! At the start of the season, most would have said, we don't like Josh back, but with Burgess, Manfredi, and Tierney all out...

But to tonight's game (which is what this thread's about), I pretty much agree with what SS says upthread. I thought Cas played very well. Yes, they were nearly full-strength against our weakened side, but SS is right; they slowed the game when it suited them, If they'd been wearing Wigan shirts, we'd all be purring. They showed they are a bit more than just a 'chuck it around' side, and fair play to them. They will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season. Everyday's a school-day.

I honestly thought we got battered last night and I cant remember when we last let a team dominate the ruck as they did .There play the ball was seconds quicker than ours .Mr T was our stand out prop by a mile ,Clubby was pure awful ,Bennys second spell better than his first ,but overall we where dominated in every department.

I think we can divide the thread into two.

1. Does the result matter? No it doesn't. The regular rounds are a warm up for a knockout comp that starts later on in the year. The hubcap is irrelevant.

2. WHY are we losing? The injuries, of course are an issue, but they mask the reason. We simply haven't enough go forward and energy at the moment.

We would have lost more often and by more points in the earlier rounds, but we relied on George to produce something special, and he invariably did. He had an off game last night and therefore wasn't able to bail out the team.

Is the lack of energy and go forward an issue? Probably not at this time of the season.

Of course the result matters! What if we keep losing and end up out the top eight??? .Every result matters and I for one want us to win the "Hubcap" and every trophy put before us .

Yes these results matter, if we end up too far off the top 4 it won't matter if we are still in the top 8 as we will have too much to do to force our way into the 4

TT put in a hell of a shift. The rest of the front row, very poor. Please let's hang on to him! Even a not fully fit Faz was a welcome return. As for JT, he seems to do as many bad things as good ones these days. And Tommy had his worst game since he returned.

He was poor defensively.

Our pack of forwards which despite a couple missing were pummelled to death and our half backs had their worst game of the season behind them and don't get me started on Georges kicking game tonight.💩
Agree. Williams has been getting all the plaudits recently but tonight he was the worst player on the pitch. killed us with abysmal end of set plays. Hope hes not starting to believe his own "superstar"press label.
And Tony Clubb looks like hes putting weight on by the day.slower than a carthorse.

Quite and it is rapidly getting to the stage that what doesn't matter is why we lost (injuries, bad ref, poor play, just not as good as we think we are) but that we lost another game.

We may even lose 4 or 5 on the bounce. Of course it matters because it hurts but it also does not really matter if we emerge as CC and GF winners. The one positive is the experience and learning curve gained for the young players but no team in SL would even compete with the injuries we currently have.
