Didn't Millward say he was one of the best defensive centres in SL? A bit over the top if you're just being polite. Plus ask McManus and he'd tell you Millward isn't a polite chap!Doug Stand posted:
How do you know this? Millward was complementary of him on Sky saying what a great defender he is but in truth any coach that comes onto Sky and talks about apposing player is never going to come on and say well such and such a body is a load of **** and I wouldn't have them in my team...they are just polite... plus who knows if other coaches listen to commnets made on Sky. Seems like an ideal medium to play mind games...
No... Aspinwall is not good enough. Not only that he is a very, very, very long way of being good enough
This season he's made a few errors in defence, although hasn't been bad defensively, he seemed very limited going forward, always makes a few metres from the play-the-ball, but hasn't really made much space for his winger or created many breaks. Having said that though isn't it a similar story for every Wigan player this season?
I think he's only got one try this season, which isn't good for a centre. I don't think it's time to get rid of him though, he's played well in the past just isn't this season.
As for singling out players that have underperformed in the last couple of weeks I'd say Tickle and Wild were worse, Tickle's handling especially. I rate Tickle highly though he's just having a bad spell.
Anyway, we'll see what Millward thinks about Aspinwall when it comes to renewing contracts!
