Wigan will be nowhere near the Million Pound Game come the end of the season.

the fact this has even been mentioned is madness, The lads are under the pump at the moment, ten injured is screwing everything up big time.

The Team will be fine, no need to panic!

I don't know about 'fine', mid-table mediocrity (the most likely outcome, I'd say) isn't fine really, is it?

At the start of the season, Wigan fans were looking forward to the campaign with arguably more optimism than ever, going in as champions, and with the WCC already under our belts! How quickly that all turned sour.

It wouldn't be (quite) so bad if the prospect of success in the Cup didn't look so remote. If we continue to defend as we did at LSV last week, even a down-on-confidence Wire side will beat us, that's for sure.

We have no choice but to suck it down and go again next year, and hope the club have learnt some lessons from this season.

I know it's not easy to define moto, but what lessons need to be learnt would you say for next year, other than I'd definitely say, a goal kicker ?

Well if I know better than Shaun Wane, we're all in trouble!

I would say on goal-kicking, I'm with those who say we probably need a goal-kicking coach more than a kicker (unless a really good dropped into our lap, unlikely). And that we need a decent pack; the packs of the top sides are way better than ours. And that George Williams is still far from the finished article. I know you can point to his try assist record, but he could be so much better. And the club should have someone who can help him improve.

We are in a 3 way fight with Cats and Wire for 8th, who play each other this week end. We need to win next week - if not, then we would be playing to stay in the 8 the week after.
We have to play Cats in Perpignan with a new coach and a lot of their key men fit. And they have a good squad.
Fail in those 2 games and our fate is no longer in our own hands.
I don't know if Wane has started looking at the league table yet, but fail to win those games and he needs to start looking at the Championship table for upcoming fixtures.

There is no way we will finish outside the top 8.

Sam played well until he ran out of steam last night,I'd guess he is actually fit this season as he's shown more gumption in the last couple of than he did in last season insipid offerings.

Actually there is a way - Widnes and Cats beat us, and we will be outside the 8 with no control over our own destiny. Given how good Catalans can be at home, essentially lose next week and it is 50:50 at best that we aren't going to Featherstone.
I am not being gloomy, as I believe that if (and only if) we wake up to the dire position we are now in and give everything we can beat Widnes at home.

How to avoid the MPG? Win more games!
Like we should have won last night. Why was TL taking that last minute drop goal? Sam or George should have been in position to kick it. Tommy isn't a good kicker. Sam and George are.
Game management, or lack of it.
I know it's against the grain but Matty Smith would have kicked it and we'd have won. Last year we were nicking games this year we're not.
Large credit to George again last night on his quality goal kicking in the most awful conditions.
