Can’t believe we missed this opportunity & let wire steal him ???? I watched pretty much every NRL game on prem sports this season & he was a standout performer in a decidedly poor Rabbitohs team. Vossy,Sterlo,Gus & Fatty Vautin all made mention at various times when commentating on Souths,that he was way too good to be heading to Super League! & surely an NRL club could snap him up. I was already thinking at that point,”here’s a real bargain if Leigh get binned”,clearly others thought the same,just no one important at Wigan ????

What gets me is we are supposed to be the biggest name in rugby league, thats the party line from those at Wigan and i would certainly say we are probably the most famous.

We never however seem to attract players who i often think "why are they there!"

for example why when we are screaming for a solid centre are leigh of all clubs and now warrington beating us to the punch?. It happens regularly too maybe some of them are lucky punts but the likes of David Fafita at Wakey or Jake Mamo at hudds. Its happened in the past too remember Cory Patterson in his first stint in the uk at Salford before Salford were big spenders. Ben barba at saints, todd carney at catalan (granted he didnt live up to the hype but thats not the point), segeyaro and parcell for leeds, moon when he went to Salford.

or imports seem to be incredibly sketchy FPN i suppose was a biggish name when he came over, but since the Finch/Hoffman/Lima have we really brought anyone in of note?

You cant use off field discretions as a reason we steered clear of some of the above either Gelling came here after one of those so we arent picky

Sadly IL spends most of his time in London so he doesn`t have his finger on the pulse, or he likes the boring way we play. I would have thought that a kicking class center would have been an absolute priority after 4 years without one . Its like Man United without a striker for 4 years, a good coach would not let it happen mmmmmmm

Agree with you 100%,i'd say our overseas recruitment/scouting has been shocking for ages! Kurt Gidley or Steve Menzies could easily be added to the list
of missed talent you mentioned. Both performed superbly in SL after coming from the NRL. We have good connections at Souths (prior to Madge sacking) & Leigh were always punching above their weight signing Goodwin originally,so how come no one at Wigan managed to get in the front of the buy out Q for him?
It wasnt even a gamble as he's been superb all year in OZ! IMO from watching this season's NRL he would of been the best centre option we've had since Carmont,not to mention a very good goalkicker.

I think they just think they don't need them. Wane is gell bound to make an all English team(mostly wiganers if he can).
That's why things won't change at Wigan until Wane goes unfortunately
