Apart from Hull who knocked them out of the cup and IIRC beat them in the league once (not sure about that). I'd like Hull to get there for this reason. If they do I'd like Hull to win. I know Cas have been the best team but I think it would spark the debate yet again about the league v the GF and it would also be worth it to see the look on the Cas fans faces (cruel I know but...).Wigan_forever1985 wrote:

Re: Cas v Sts
after some of the tripe spouted last week by the Saints fans about Wigan not making the top 4 and then hope we beat Wakey by 90+ points and then Wakey kick a drop goal how ironic that 1 week later they should lose to a drop goal, with Mr Drop Goal in their team
tbh i didnt want either team to win as i cant stand most of their fans, but agree that based on the regular season that Cas were the most deserving.
Saints have been marginally less poor than Wigan have all year, but you would have thought they have been champions for the last X number of years with some of the drivel i have seen and bile aimed at Wigan / Wane / Tomkins etc, so it will give me great pleasure to remind them that they have won F*** all again
when i see them

at the minute i would say yes, however all Cas are doing is what Wigan did 4-5 years agoJonnyD wrote:It just showed how far behind our style of rugby is
They have a deep line with fast hands, dummy runners and a 2nd row that runs a good angle usually against the play to distract defenders
with MM & then Wane's 1st couple of seasons we did that regularly, and you could pretty much call when we were going to score a try, because you could see the opposition defence stretched, then we would go the other way with ST linking the line and score - even Karl Pryce scored over 20 tries and wasnt 1st choice, and we had 2 lines of attackers with most moves
Cas to be fair probably have more offloads in their game than we did, but in essence it is not different to what we have seen at Wigan recently
what has happened i dont know, but got to be down to the coaching as the players can do it but havent been doing it - so they are either following instructions or only performing when they want

Indeed I was, sorry for the confusion but the perils of typing on my phone.DaveO wrote:I am sure fozzieskem was on about goal kicks, not the drop goal. Saints outscored Cas 5 tries to 3 and if Percival had been as accurate as Gale with goal kicks there would have been no draw and no Gale golden point. Gale said he felt sorry for Percival after the match for this reason.PaulC wrote:Understand what you are saying but lets be honest any kicker would look good behind that back.fozzieskem wrote:Great game, hope Cas win it now but and I hope all concerned in the coaching staff at Wigan take note having a quality kicker wins games
They create a massive amount of time for Gale to work his magic.
Hardly saw him charged down once where as they were all over smith (who did a great job considering)
Bring back Frano!
I can't help but feel that my main gripe with Wane is the seemingly cavalier attitude towards kicking, it simply would have dug Wigan out of so many holes this season if the side had someone a competent as Gale or Sneyd.
Not saying Wigan would have won the GF but I feel they would have been a damn sight closer than they go in the end.
Oh well Can for the GF now for my money, side of the year will if there's any justice pick up the big prize and be recognised by some people as "winners"
