Lockers if possible lead from the front stand up and be counted.
Re: Next years captain
i have to agree with mrs carney. Lockers at 13 nxt season definatly. i think dat the captain has to be in the middle to see wots going on and to talk to the others at gud oppitunities.

Re: Next years captain
Lockers may have captained a junior England side but he is IMO far too inexperienced to captain the Wigan first team.
He has two and a bit seasons SL experience that is all.
We have no idea how he would deal with team mates who's heads have dropped etc. Also why would he command the respect of much more experienced players?
There is plenty of time for him to mature into a Wigan captain but next season I would give it to Fletcher or Orr. Both experienced captains. Orr seems to be doing the job half the time anyway at the moment as he is one of the few who gees the team up.
Make Lockers vice captain or something and let him learn from someone who has done this job longer than Lockers entire league career.

That thought has crossed my mind as well. Bot Lockers and Hock could take all of next season to recover from their injuries before they approach anything like their previous form. They may not even get back to that.Doug Stand posted:
You're assuming that O'Loughlin is going to be worth a place next year... It's a tough injury he has had and may not be the player yoiu all think he is.

How old was Faz when he got the captaincy and what positions did he play .Rads is still one of the best full backs around but just cos he has tons of class and experience doesnt make him a leader. Fletcher would be the ideal choice as he is a successful Origin captain, Orr talks a lot so he may be a choice. The captain needs to be up where the action is to communicate and lead by example. How many times last season did Faz almost carry the team and win games single handedly?

I'd give it O'Loughlin, the only other person I'd consider is Danny Orr if he continues to play well and I think he will. You need a captain that is always on the field, I don't think Fletcher will be as prominent as younger players in the second row. Additionally Orr and O'Loughlin have the benefit of knowing most of the team whereas Fletcher won't know anyone until his first training session. Give it O'Loughlin have some faith and invest in the future!Sutty posted:

Re: Next years captain
I think the title will either go to Fletcher or Lockers. If Fletcher gets it i would expect Lockers to be learning how to be a better captain off of him. But if Lockers is captain i think Fletcher will take on the role of morale boosting anyway. Like this season with Rads. He'd tell them what needs to be sorted but a few times ive seen Moran and Orr chipping in and shouting..not at them but trying to get spirits up like Faz did all the time. I think we need a captain who can get angry but in a positive way, nmot like Newton. Because Newton gets angry in a negative way, even if it is fun to watch.

Re: Next years captain
I would seriously consider making Fletcher captain, possibly mentioning in the announcement that the role will eventually go to O'Loughlin. Fletcher's leadership experience is beyond doubt. O'Loughlin would learn a lot from him and would run things when Fletcher is rotated to the bench.
This move would take pressure off O'Loughlin whilst at the same time reassuring him re his own future in the team.

That sounds like the best suggestion yet to me.jinkin jimmy posted:
