Well if Tommy is fit it's not a risk, I haven't a clue re his fitness, and a bench spot helps mitigate that. I remember the days of Hanley doing fitness tests at Wembley. Rads at Murrayfield was a risk I agree, but more a medical issue than fitness. I'll be as please as anyone to see Tommy lift the cup on Saturday.

The only change to that, I suspect, will be Byrne to start and Ellis from the bench.Exiled Wiganer wrote: ↑Thu May 26, 2022 2:30 pm This is Tommy we are talking about - no one knows better than him how his body works and what he can contribute. He is too honourable a man to blag it. Tommy instead of Shorrocks on the bench is a huge bonus for us. So, whoever wrote the story earlier this week about Tommy holding up the trophy knew what he was writing after all... If I wasn’t excited enough already!!!
Field - Marshall - Bibby - Thornley (who was superb when we won the CC against Hull) - French
Cust - Smith
Singleton - O’Neill - Ellis
Bateman - Farrell - Smithies
Mago - Byrne - Havard - Tommy
In those we place our trust.
As an afterthought, why not Tommy (or Wee Tam) at starting hooker and O'Neill on the bench? This would allow us to see how Tommy goes, and O'Neill could come on against a tired opposition.

Meds spots another chance to stir the pot

Matty Peet will make the decision. He is better informed than any of us, including Meds. And he's better qualified. And he's not a wind-up merchant.
I'm happy for us to go with whatever Peet decides.

Not a wind up, same happened a few years back with Joel Tomkins, came straight back into the GF after being out for ages making Willie Isa miss out even though he had earned his placemorley pie eater wrote: ↑Thu May 26, 2022 6:45 pmMeds spots another chance to stir the pot![]()

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Re: Wigan squad for Challenge Cup Final
If Tommy is fit enough to play for even half an hour, then I ask myself who I’d rather have spelling Brad O’Neill from the bench, out of him and Shorrocks and I don’t even need to think about it. I like Shorrocks but he’s never a hooker. Tommy hasn’t been playing hooker lately but many would say it’s his best position.
It’s the only decision to be made you’d imagine.
