Former Wigan Warriors star Zak Hardaker found guilty of drink driving (why is the headline about an ex Wigan player? He now plays for Leigh!
)
Former Wigan Warriors star Zak Hardaker has been disqualified from driving for three years after being found guilty of drink driving for a second time.
The 32-year-old current Leigh Leopards centre was found guilty of driving without due care and attention and driving over the prescribed limit of alcohol at Leeds Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning.
Leigh Journal reports that Hardaker blew 55 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath, in excess of the legal limit of 35mcg, in the early hours of January 31.
Hardaker, who played for Wigan between 2019 and 2022, was fined £1,346.
The 2015 Man of Steel winner was previously banned from driving for 20 months after pleading guilty to a drink driving charge in September 2018, when he was more than twice over the legal limit.
He has still been named in Adrian Lam’s 21-man Leigh squad for their Super League season opener against Huddersfield Giants on Friday evening.
“Leigh Leopards are aware of a drink drive incident involving Zak Hardaker,” the club said in a statement on Wednesday evening.
“The club was made aware of the situation at the earliest opportunity and has supported Zak since and will continue to do so.
“The club will be making no further comment.”

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

I'd say it's because it's in the Wigan evening post. It makes it more relevant to the larger part of target audience? Probably has a different headline in other papers.josie andrews wrote: ↑Thu Feb 29, 2024 10:11 pm Former Wigan Warriors star Zak Hardaker found guilty of drink driving (why is the headline about an ex Wigan player? Yes, I was just annoyed with the headline.Mike wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2024 1:53 amI'd say it's because it's in the Wigan evening post. It makes it more relevant to the larger part of target audience? It seems if an ex Wigan player does something wrong it doesn’t matter, if any, who he/she is it’s never the club they play for now.
They never say how much Wigan did for him either, that’s always the current club, in this case Leigh. No club could have done enough for him as Wigan did.
