Re: Leeming
Whats the point in paying to watch matches ruled by decisions? For all teams, not just ours. Its ruining the game , ask any paying speccy.Sat down or stood up watching constant replays and still getting it wrong…. Boring
IF YOU STRIKE ME DOWN I WILL BECOME MORE POWERFUL THAN YOU CAN POSSIBLY IMAGINE
Re: Leeming
Crikey, I remember when the ref got every decision correct and everything was right and good too. Oh wait, that's never happened.Firestarter wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 10:36 amWhats the point in paying to watch matches ruled by decisions? Imagine if that did happen. Every decision went wigan's way, every decision was "Correct". Boring.

Re: Leeming
Everyone expects referees to give decisions against us, the issue here is not with Kendall it is with the VR. Unless the rules have changed in the last week then the decision was wrong. Referees get things wrong and personally I’m fine with that whether it be a penalty, sin-bin, or sending off. It is the VR that is impacting the game. It is encouraging players to feign injury and pressurising officials into making unwarranted decisions. My view, for what it is worth, is that the VR should be used by the MRP to view possible transgressions following the completion of the game and let the players decide who the best team on the night is.
Re: Leeming
I think the VR said its a penalty only, which is as close to correct as he could probably go without telling the ref to reverse his onfield decision (which I don't think they are allowed to do - they can tell teh ref whether its a yellow, red or penalty sufficient as far as I'm aware). The ref had called a penalty himself. The sin bin was for persistent offenses which he'd already warned us about. The only thing wrong here was the ref made the wrong call that it was a high tackle, and you just said you were fine with that. Once the ref makes the penalty call, the yellow is coming with or without the VR.Charriots Offiah wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 11:26 amEveryone expects referees to give decisions against us, the issue here is not with Kendall it is with the VR. What specifically did you hear the VR say to the referee?Wiganer Ted wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 4:54 pm Hope the VR feels suitably chastised! Gave totally the wrong info to the ref.
Leeming wasn't late, not high and was not an illegal tackle.
It was not a penalty let alone an offence which warranted a sin binning.
The VR should have told the match ref no offence and re-start with Field playing the ball.
Trouble is fans as old as me have seen this performance from match officials for decades.
Home crowd gets on the refs back. Ref starts to penalise the opposition/away team, eventually sin binning an away team player. The crowd cheers and are immediately off the referees back!
It's almost routine!

The match referee called a penalty and sin binned Leeming when it was obvious from visual evidence that the Wigan player wasn't late and didn't tackle high. Therefore no offence was committed. The disciplinary committee have obviously come to deduce the same and concluded no sanction is applicable.
The referee to take the action he did can only therefore have been given incorrect info from the VR.
Re: Leeming
Kendal seemed to let it go at first before the touch judge intervened.

Re: Leeming
Fair point Mike. I have not seen a video of the game so I stand corrected. Still my option regarding the use of VR still stands, it is being over used and it detracts from the spectacle. I am happy if it’s used by the MRP to punish those guilty of foul play but, as things stand, it’s use is encouraging play acting which is not something I want to see in our sport.Charriots Offiah wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 2:17 pmMike wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 12:31 pmI think the VR said its a penalty only, which is as close to correct as he could probably go without telling the ref to reverse his onfield decision (which I don't think they are allowed to do - they can tell teh ref whether its a yellow, red or penalty sufficient as far as I'm aware).
