Did Rowley not admit post match that he could have played a team up to the £1.2m cap (ie. a much stronger team) but chose not to do so. He has previous of this sort. Did he not play a vastly under strength team against us last year . He was IMO playing the poor Salford card again but it has only bit him in the backside this time and basically handed Saints a 3 point win and embarrassed SL.

According to Paul Rowley`s post match interview Salford where only given 1 hours notice before the team naming deadline on who was eligible to play As he said all the squad`s wages are paid up to date so why couldn`t they be allowed to play? As the game is on national tv surely the RFL want the best game possible between the best teams available. What point has been made by the RFL putting both Salford and the game in this position?
I hope people will watch Paul Rowley`s pre-match interview on the BBC I player, it doesnt appear to be Salfords fault.
That was my thought as I watched the pre match interview, if accurate then RFL should arrange a press conference to explain, and then resign.
It was mentioned on Sky before our game on Thursday that Salford were picking an under strength team on Saturday.

One of the key points raised was that Salford could not change the squad within the cap limit and, having picked young kids to play in the Challenge Cup they were stuck with the same 17 man squad?
TBF, the RFL will cite their process so it does look like fault on both sides.

BBC records impressive viewing figures for St Helens/Salford clash despite controversy in one-sided affair
ST HELENS and the Salford Red Devils played out the most one-sided Super League game in history on Saturday evening – and it was live on the BBC.
An 82-0 scoreline was the largest winning margin of any Super League fixture since the summer era began and all focus was on Salford head coach Paul Rowley’s decision to chuck in 16 reserves players to take to the field at the Totally Wicked Stadium.
That had followed the controversy earlier in the week which saw the Red Devils’ £1.2 million sustainability cap fail to be lifted in time for the Round One clash – a fact that Rowley and the club only got to know an hour before they had to declare their squad for the fixture.
Despite the one-sided scoreline, according to Rugby League On TV, the game had an average viewership of 318,000 – which equated to a 2.7 per cent audience share.
And, at its peak, the fixture recorded an impressive peak of 413,000.

And yet not one of the starting 13 on Saturday were in the starting 13 for the cup game the week previously.
I've always admired Rowley up until Saturday.
So much of what he said left greater question marks. If he was complaining he couldn't change his squad how did he come up with a totally different team?
When questioned about whether this was done to prove a point to the RFL he couldn't give a straight answer. He started banging on about being uncomfortable answering questions and something to do with having bought a Ferrari but it was stuck in the garage.
One things for certain. If the new owners turned out to be anything like the previous corrupt bunch who took over the Latics, then many of those currently calling out the RFL would be questioning why they hadn't conducted the appropriate fit and proper persons tests that they are currently going through.
The new owners knew what was required of them a week ago; it was widely reported who they had to pay yet haven't met those deadlines.
Its just a pity that this whole thing was played out on national TV.

Salford should be fined its a disgrace they are making RL look amateur no wonder SKY reduced the backing contract
Disagree it's there squad they can pick who the want. If playing a weakened side against saints allows them to play a fresh first team squad in a game they are more likely to win then kudos.

Salford should launch an investigation into the RFL bringing the game into disrepute

after all I've never seen the CEO of Salford sat at a league match wearing union gear.

Investigates what though, they approved the team and squad so what is the case to answer? Nothing at all all clubs have done this and will do so again this year it’s hypocritical to say otherwise.
