"Especially in attack" is code for "he can't defend" according to a number of union fans on comments below the report on BBC online, which has got 221 comments in 6 hours - which shows the publicity value of the signing.

There's a good chance it'll also be in tomorrow's Times and other organs who normally ignore RL.

The people who post comments on the BBC rugby union pages are all massive league haters, though, so any player going to league will get slagged off.

WTF ? The most underwhelming signing since Shem Tatupu. I know he's been a good finisher in union in the past but he never could defend and he's now past it. There is no upside, it's all a bit embarrassing.

Short term no risk as cover many in RU think hes been underused for England and is class guess we'll see. SOL can fix up defence

I'm puzzled somewhat - Gloucester fans see him as a decent finisher (I will find out more) but he will have to progress very quickly to provide any kind of decent cover for Miski. Its a win in the short term for publicity but if it goes no further is it worth upsetting the likes of Douglas and others?

Slag off Shem Tatupu again and we will have words.

I’m a little confused (I often am)but when does he join us now or in June when the union season seems to end?

He said in the Sky interview that he's got 5 more games at Gloucester, maybe more if they reach the play offs.

I’ll reserve judgement until Josie says she’s given him some eggs and you’ll know then he’s sound

Very underwhelming, why sign a winger, I thought Douglas was doing well filling in for Miski.
The way things are going it's props we need.
I hope they will be signing some big names for next season, to add some experience to the squad, having not replaced Isa and Hampshire this year.
We seem to be signing "project" players who we never play and don't look good enough to be in a Wigan team.
