That works if you're, say, Martin Offiah. He isn't. His sideways runs just allow t,e defenders to get further upfield, which is why he makes zero yards forwards. Dallas, by contrast, does run straight, and usually makes 20 or 30 yards.
Which, of course, is why all opposition teams are kicking to Calderwood's wing, rather than dallas's.

not to mention running down it all the time! calderwood is damn quick so you fancy his chances. calderwood isn't martin offiah but he is still fast and he should be able to get through and sometimes does. if you think he has made some good breaks this season.

No, he runs sideways because he doesn't know what else to do.
He does this whether hes receiving the kick or a clean pass and it isnt his job to be taking on forwards, that should be left to the little we have left in our pack.
