You have to be realistic and in present circumstances the guys gave all they had. You can never ask any more, win or lose

Anyway, we only lost by 6.
32 points start on the bookies, lost by 38, so only really lost by 6.
for me, the fact that Stains were desperate to get the 50 and didn't showed our commitment.
It does feel strange getting enthusiastic about such a loss, but if we continue with the commitment we saw today, then we will be safe.
Looks as though Wire are struggling, as well.
all is not lost, 3 wins and we could be in the top 6

There is an incredible amount of work to be done by both the players and whoever we get as coach! But probably for the first time this season I was actually very proud of the players! I thought the scoreline didnt reflect the positive play Wigan did and the much improved defence, Saints played like Wigan of old, they managed to score some undeserved tries and won with a larger scoreline than the Wigan deserved! Much better effort lads particularly Ashton, Orr, James, and Higham. A bit more team bonding, some players back to full fitness, a confident coach, and we're safe!

Ashton + Goulding combined caused the right hand side a fair deal of trouble, very good games from them two i thought. Didnt think godwin looked 100% but i thought higham at 7 was a good choice, i've been calling for that long enough. Moran at full back was ok, dallas and ashton saved his skin a few times. Thought James looked good and Jonkers looked pitiful. But am pleased we tried, what could we expect really Saints are on a roll at the moment and we kept them the right side of 50

For the 1st time all season I can say I'm proud to be a Wiganer after a match, so that's good enough for me!

Unfortunately, another loss but it was a bit weird as I was still fairly pleased at the end of the game (don't ask me how I can say that after losing a derby match vs S****s, I don't know!)
There were some positives in our performance, at least we put up a spirited fight. I know there's no league points awarded for that but it's encouraging for the rest of the season.
Whoever the new coach is will have to have a few words with Wilkes, too many silly penalties were given away putting us on the back foot. :eusa17:
I thought James played quite well, given time to settle in and a good pre-season I think he's got a rosier future than Wilkes at the club.
Also well done to Ashton and Goulding, two of the youngest players in the team and they never gave up until the final whistle, typified by that superb tackle by Ashton on Anderson.
If the new coach can somehow find that illusive ingredient to blend the talented youngsters with the experienced heads in the team we'll be OK.
We'll have to wait until later tonight to see how Wakefield go but I think Monday is a massive game, we need to beat Quins to boost the confidence.
OK, we're not having a great season but let's all get down to JJB on Monday and roar the lads on to victory !!!! :eusa2:

I to am proud of the effort that the lads showed today. We started the game better than we have in the last few weeks. Later on we started to get tired, due to there pack being bigger than ours.
I think James had a good game, he just needs to have a look at his tackling technique. He tackled to high on a couple of occasions today, although he's not the only one who did. Ashton and Goulding also impressed today. They played with pride and passion, and kept trying for the full 80 mins. Ashton saved a certain two tries, so well done to the lad. Both Higham and Godwin also played well.
The crowd was also brilliant today, cheering and shouting all the way through the game. We out shouted there fans, and it was pointed out on sky aswell. So well done to the fans.
I can't believe i am actually saying this but i walked away from the game today happier than i did last week. I felt proud of the team for there efforts, we just need a bit more of a skill factor, which i think will come when we get some players back!

Yes, well done - the first full 80 minutes of never-say-die effort all season. We out-shouted the Stains fans and thanks to the lads' efforts as well we all walked off with our heads held high. We've had plenty of Good Friday miracles but we can't rely on them every year.
As someone has already said: the lads we were able to put out there gave 100% and that's all we can reasonably ask from them.
Chris Ashton is a grat talent and must be given a starting spot every week unless he loses form.
