Morley to Warrington, Leuluai to Wigan!
Re: Morley to Warrington, ...
I would rather see some up and coming home grown talent instead of another islander/Aussie, someone like Danny Brough or Peter lupton for eaxample, to partner mr Barret in the half backs Next term
Re: Morley to Warrington, ...
I agree. We will have as many Kolpak players as Bradford and Wakey for another season if we carry on.medlocke posted:

No doubt some will say trying to have a team of home grown telent will mean you have a poor team compared to others in SL but I can't remember when Wigan have ever had so many foreign players on their books.
Back when we played Manly in the World Club Challenge wasn't the only foreign player in the team West? That was a pretty good side!

If I recall 13 Englishmen!
Re: Morley to Warrington, ...
It's just been ob BBC Radio Manchester that morley is to announce his decision by the end of the week, And wait for it? Warrington and Wigan being the favourites to sign him, But also that he's considering an offer to stay in Australia with the Roosters, I was under the impression it was almost a done deal with the Wire, Going off the comments from the Wire board on RLFans the majority of them don't want him as he is crocked and too old.
Re: Morley to Warrington, ...
It was only early days in the era of Wigan success so while we had some top players the likes of Platt, Connolly and Offiah were yet to arrive.Flash posted:The difference is they were probably the best 13 Englishmen in Britain! I think I am right in saying that the GB team had 11 players from Wigan in the squad around that time and I can't see that being the case next season, or anytime soon. More's the pity!Doveoverdave posted:

I don't recall complaints that Wigan had signed the best and the rest were at a disadvantage at that time. That came when the club started flinging money about for the likes of Hanley and Offiah.
One of the things that always gets me when fans complain that Wigan bought success is that there were always quite a few players in the squad who came through the ranks at Wigan and who were good enough to be considered the best.
It was a balance with home grown players and signings making up the team.
At the moment we seem to be out to emulate Bradford and survive of Kolpak players.
