When we first signed Higham and got rid of Newton I thought it was a good idea. I thought we'd be without a hooker for nearly half the season and with Higham and Godwin we'd be sorted.
In hindsight I wish we'd kept Newton. We cannot have done any worse waiting for him to return. Whilst he does have his negative points, like his behavioural problems, he has the ability to turn a game; something we don't have right now. Newton is the type of player that will do something fantastic when the chips are down and the teams heads rise. At the moment we make one mistake and the heads are down for the rest of the match. This is evident from all our of games, whilst it's close or we're winning we perform ok, when the pressure is on the floodgates open.

Re: NEWTON
Tez will be well pleased, you have knocked yearas off him! He is 26/27
Re: NEWTON
In the position we are in i think you are right but nagging away at me is the thought that when he was here he gave away to many silly penalties when we were in a good position.robjoenz posted:

When the chips are down is when you see the worst of Newton. I have never seen him do anything fantastic in this situation. I have seen him loose his rag and hit out but I can't ever remember Newton pulling a game out of the fire for us by great play.
When things are not going well he either goes missing or loses his rag.
When we are winning or on top he will be in there but he is easily wound up and even more so when the pressure is on to get back into a game.
Given the state the team is in at the moment I can't think of a worse situation to have Newton in the side.

higham is very hard working and is my favourite player at the moment along with richards. he is very technical and alot of our trys come from his or godwin's plays. they both run from dummy half. they are 2 great hookers, if it aint broke.....dont fix it.
- psycho - posted:
chrisJJ posted:What a load of rubish Higham looks for gaps himself and does a lot of running from dummy-half. it's a shared amount with scrum half, stand off and hookers setting up the most. higham is producing the goods so is godwin, the other 2 are laking. thats why most of our tries come from the hooker.

Your lot got enough set up or scored by Jimmy.boovey posted;

And wasn't Tezza your top try scorer in a recent game?
Cunningham?
He doesn't do a decent creative/scoring job at Saints?
The hookers at Leeds/ Hull create/score many many tries.
