I was told yesterday by a member of the coaching staff that an announcement regarding a new signing was postponed last week "in the interests of team morale". He wasn't giving much away but said something could happen this week.

When Higham was asked if he was going to Bradford he replied "am I ****"! :doz:

It's true, announcing that you're signing the Grim Reaper perhaps wouldn't be the best thing for making the players feel secure in their job...!

Or worse, perhaps they were threatening to bring in we_need_a_coach to do some team talks if they lost again...!

Hardly the tone to adopt if you were about to announce the loss of your star player. Far too positive. Sounds more like they are announcing the capture of a new player and I don't mean Higham and Calderwood.

Indeed. It would look strange indeed if on Monday in one newspaper the Chairman explicitly and comprehensibly states there is nothing in these rumours, then the next he announces a deal for them to go. If it does happen, Martyn Sadler's beard will be wagging in overdrive at having been deceived...!

But just to add petrol to the flames if anyone was watching the Superleague show on Sunday Harry Gration asked guest Stuart Fielden if a deal should be done to keep Wigan up if they finish bottom and Fielden replied that Superleague could not do without Wigan and yes a deal would have to be done!
