I would sooner keep Orr, the best thing that has happened since we signed Dobson is the emergence of Orr as a genuine attacking threat. Dobson is the guy doing all the basic things and controlling play with his kicking game, Orr is the guy who the players are running off, Orr is the guy making the breaks.
So Orr to scrum half then? Surely Barrett will get the six shirt

Yes Orr has played better off a good 7 but was not harder to play worse after Moran!! Plus because he has so much a better grubber kick game than Moran defences are drawn to close that down, hence creating more space and time for Orr and the centres and or wings. I would want to keep Dobbo and Bailey and obviously Barrett would add even more, so Fletch for me is the one to go given our strength in the back row. We all know that the halves is the weakest part of GB general development and what better way for Thomas Coyle to learn off a developing talent in Dobbo and an established ledgend in Barrett.

Exactly, in the modern game the half backs play pretty much the same role, most clubs just operate with one half back on each side of the field, only on set plays do they really have to operate as a pairing.

I don't think this is because of Dobsons present..more that our big 3 props are tiring the oposistion out and leaving gaps for orr to go through.

Would be great to keep Dobson but his main strengths are his kicking game (out of hand & goal). When Barrett arrives we will soon forget about Dobsons field kicking. That leaves the other to cover, so signing a top class goal kicker like El Mazri if rules allow, will mean that Dobson is a fading but pleasant memory. I'm really looking forward to seeing Fletcher, Barrett & Bailey in the same team next year all 3 are tough characters and leaders and that's what we have been missing for years.................''now when do season tickets go on sale again??'' :D

When Moran was here, he was always first reciever. Thing is he couldn't find a gap in stone henge let alone put anyone through it. Dobson has come in and just steadied the ship, he hasn't set the world on fire, he has just done the basics very well. Orr has took on alot more responsibility since Moran left, players are running off him alot more, and that is giving him the option to take on defences as they are unsure of who is getting the ball. I agree that the props are going forward very well, I just feel that Orr's increased responsibilty and Dobson taking over the kicking has vastly improved Orr's overall game.

Interesting reading from Wikipedia about Mr Barrett:-

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trent_Barrett
Wikipedia entry for Trent Barrett
His first season at the new joint venture of the St George Illawarra Dragons was marred by controversy as the incessant media hype over an alleged feud with Anthony Mundine and whether by playing out of position at half-back was affecting his form. With the shock departure of Mundine in 2000, Barrett was allowed to move back to his more comfortable position of five-eighth and his form returned which could clearly be seen by his receiving of the Dally M Medal in 2000.
From this, I think he has to play at stand-off, playing scrum-half seems not to be his thing. Maybe his play is a bit different to the idea of the two halves doing the same thing just on different sides of the pitch...
