I have also heard that Ashton needs some serious lessons. What in, I don't know, but according to the RLFans site, he was absolutely abysmal.

Ashton is the reason we lost . Bad error in first half should have played safe instead it cost us 6 easy pts for Bulls .Great support tonight Barrett was quality great vision pity Hansen couldnt make that pass stick in first half. No need to panic!.Unlucky Lads .

Ok guys, I'm proud to be Wigan tonight after coming out just second to a well on-form, strong bradford side. Good tries scored, just little mistakes let us down. Hock let the side down giving away all them penalties. Ashton, Withers, Barret, Fielden, Leului, SUPURB. Very hopefull.

Ashton let in the try by not booting the ball dead and stopping in the in -goal area hoping it would go dead....but that said i don't think the bulls player grounded the ball. Then Ashton gave away the penalty and got sin binned...he had a bad night.
Millard was crap. Barrett was good and Fielden seems to be getting some form back. They came back strong and played well in the second half but there are some things need to be sorted out yet and quick.
Anyone see Nobby swearing just after the second half started when Lulu threw that forward pass
 I didn't know he knew such words

Our biggest problem, as we expected before the season started, is a lack of strength on the bench. It's no coincidence that our periods of dominance coincided with Feka, Fielden & Higham being on the field. As soon as they came off, we fell to pieces. Was Fielden injured? He was playing well enough before he went off, and was outstanding when he came back on, as was Feka.

Like DaveO, I'm at a loss to understand why Calderwood wasn't playing - to put Ashton, out of position, up against Vainikolo was crazy.

Haven't seen the video yet, but I was impressed with all of our 1st 13 (yes, even DV!), I felt it was the 4 replacements (even Hansen, unusually - I think it was him that dropped Barrett's pass after his chip&regather, am I right?) that were our weak links. Definite signs that Barrett & Leuluai are starting to tick, though.

Ashton must go back to FB, let DV & Withers fight for the other centre spot. I continue to be unimpressed with Millard, Prescott, fair enough was dropped in at the deep end - he needed Fielden alongside him, not O'Carroll. They'll both get better, but had no chance against the likes of Vagana & Solomona.

Again, though, just like the Warrington game, it was goalkicking that made the difference. Let's not forget we scored 5 tries, the same as them!

Off to watch the video now!

Don't ever listen to what they say on RLFans! If you can't get to the game, at least watch it on TV, and make your own mind up.
He had an excellent game, considering he was played out of position, and up against one of the best wingers in the world. Couldn't really see the sin-binning offence, but he was the one who got the tackle in on LV, saving a try - seemed he was then binned for a professional foul. I'll watch the video before commenting more, but at the time I thought LV moved forward off the mark and Ashton was trying to get back in front of him.
Criticise him for missing kicking it dead, maybe, but he was the only Wigan player who even bothered to chase it! And later on he saved another try by handling it dead against 2 Bulls players.

we miss something different at the play the ball area higham & millard have similar styles wagga would have had a field day tonight in the last 15 mins bradford were out on there feet he would have torn them to bits from the play the ball.carn't knock the effort tonight,so all those knockers slaging players off after 3 games get a grip, get off your arses go out and support the team and burst your lungs in support all will be well.as the saying goes it's not how you start it's how you finish.
English by birth. Wigan by the grace of God.
