Coaches can make last minute changes and I am sure a new signing on the Friday would be allowed to play in weekends games.
However he can't play tomorrow as he missed the signing deadline of 5pm Friday for the 4th & 5th rounds of the cup.
If he signs he can only pay for us in the cup if we reach the semi finals.
Unless of course Wigan signed him in time but didn't announce it but that would require Wire to do the same which is unlikely.

There again Dave he could have signed before 5pm yesterday but the rl hq might still be to clear the transfer. If an attempt failed due to cap. a readjustment may still have to be checked. Then again the club might be waiting to tell Mathers his Wigan days are history. Just because it is not yet open knowledge it may be a done deal, Jim
If the deal was done before 5pm Friday I would imagine he had be be a fully registered Wigan player by that time. I would think if his registration only came through after that time he would be ineligible. There must be a line in the sand so to speak.
There is some speculation on rlfans he was indeed signed, register and cleared by 5pm Friday and IL is waiting for tomorrow to spring the big surprise.
I think it is a little bit far fetched myself but stranger things have happened I suppose.

Maybe it's to deflect attention from being knocked out of the Cup by Barrow...
I'd have thought it would make more sense to announce it asap, and hope for increased ticket sales for the Saints game?

He should be glad that a super league team are even taking him seriously,

Reserves played today and he wasn't in their squad or the academy come to that.
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
