I fail to see how you can have any doubt. You've openly stated that your opinion is that he is trying to maximise his financial return and that the move is only about the money. He must obviously be going to where the highest financial reward is.

The transfer fee is inconsequential as the club will have to sort this not the player and as you stated with Sam it's all about him and always will be. The player you have described won't worry about anything else besides his wage.

I too believe he will be announced as a Wigan player in the next few days.

+1 I'm with you PM, I actually think Sam handles the physical aspect better than he should for his frame, I also disagree about him being a flop, he was 1 of NZ Warriors best players last season.

Having been in the army and witnessed homesickness plenty of times with plenty of people I can concur with the fact that it does exist. People in the army would be genuinely homesick and be in the same country so to be half way across the world and say you are well I can sympathise with that.

If you are money motivated I am fine with that too because you are only paid what you are worth in this life, I agree with a lot of your points CP but in this case I feel you are being harsh!

Sam is rumoured to have signed with us yet IL is a tight arse and the sky money would be the same regardless of which club he went too so he can't have chosen us for the most money he could have gotten for himself!

Wes, Il was never a tight arse with Sam. He made him the highest paid player in SL.

PM the evidence is there, 99% of the time he fielded a kick downfield he immediately fired a pass to either winger. He did not draw a single player just pass ASAP.

BTW you are forgetting too difficult which the NRL was. If you are one of the highest paid players in the NRL you have to deliver. Sam did not.

A contract can mean many things, ask the Leeds players. At a more basic level if club A offer Sam 150,000 for 3 years but Wigan offer Sam 140,000 for 4 years etc you can see why what appears the bigger offer is not the better deal.

Of course the transfer matters. If the Warriors have paid Wigan the full amount already then somebody the club and/or Sam has to compensate them or if NZW have only received 2/3rds then what happens re the remaining 1/3? Sam pays it or Wigan write it off if Sam re signs for us. See what I mean re the best deal.

It will hopefully be great to have Sam back but lets not pretend he is perfect as a person. He is far from it. People talked about Ben Flower letting the club down Sam T has broken his last 2 contracts, cost Wigan a double last season and thousands, hundred of thousands in prize money / revenue from a Wembley Trip etc and do so pretty disgusting things to some team mates.

Sam is in RL now for Sam and for the money he can accrue. We would be silly not to take him back as he is superb at SL level or at least was and should still be hopefully but he failed at the highest level, the NRL. NZW certainly did not put up a fight to retain Sam. Imagine the NZW if Johnson wanted to leave.

That is now done by most coaches in SL from what i have seen.

Hampshire and Bowen both look to. Many others too. I doesn't make then soft, it makes them sensible. Wingers are built much bigger than full backs and also running wide are running at similar sized players to themselves rather than the even larger middle unit defenders. Save the body for the more important touches where they can make more damage happen rather than endless hit ups from kicks.

If your the best you lap up opportunities to run freely. Look at Slater, Inglis, Hayne and many others. I can live with a full back passing the ball sometimes or drawing some heat before passing but Sam passes it every time and it becomes too predictable. Put Sam on the opp try line at the end of a move and he is fantastic but sorry Bowen who is smaller etc. is even tougher than Sam.
