Withers is useful on the bench as he can cover any of the back positions in case of injury, but IMO that's the only way he should be used.
I was OK with him starting at centre early in the season, but now that DV has finally found some form, our starting line up should be Ashton, Calderwood, Bailey, DV & Richards, with Withers on the bench.

Flippin' heck, how many times are we going to discuss this? I wish some fans would spend as much energy supporting the team as they do in slagging them off. Just hope none of them ever read the messageboards (rlfans more so than this one) as they wouldn't exactly be encouraged to give it their all after reading some of the opinions. Michael Withers may not have the speed of Ashton but he is rarely out of position and is a deceptive runner because of his height he moves quicker than we give him credit for sometimes (I know he isn't superfast but he isn't superslow either), in fact if it hadn't been for Withers being more alert and on the ball than anyone else we may not have beaten Harlequins as he nicked the ball from McLinden's grasp on their line and nipped over to score for us. And so what if Millard is a grandad - the team has a combination of youth and experience and we're a hell of a lot better than last year and moving in the right direction. Surely the doubters among you didn't think we would suddenly go to being world beaters overnight?
Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

There's no reason why, just because we support the team (as we all do), we can't discuss how it could be improved. Going to "world beaters", as you say, can't be done overnight; that's the whole point of discussing the steps towards that goal, of which getting rid of Millard & Withers would be two very good steps (in many of our opinions, of course) in that direction.
We have the nucleus of a very good side with the likes of O'Loughlin, Hock, Barrett, Leuluai, Fielden, Feca, Higham...people are simply identifying the areas where we need to strengthen for next year, and fullback and reserve hooker are two definites.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you or anyone else Geoff but these two players names seem to be getting talked about every week - granted not necessarily on this forum - and it just struck me that we keep going over the same subject yet again. Both players are back up signings and not part of the long term future of the team because as we all know they are getting to the end of their careers and I just think the continual slating the pair of them get is somewhat unjustified to a large extent as their experience sometimes makes up for their loss of speed. You are quite right that the signing of a good fullback for next year is crucial - any thoughts on who you'd prefer? Sadly the likes of Kris Radlinski don't come along very often and I don't think Briscoe would want to come back having made a new life for himself in Hull.
Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.
