That assumes you agree with the RFL and believe the deduction of four points this year is justified or it is for the same reason as last year and the same mistakes have been made again. I certainly don't believe either to be the case listening to what Dave Whelan has to say on the BBC web site.TWO EYED WARRIOR posted:
What your missing here Dave is the fact that the adminsitartors have not learned from there mistakes.
2 years on the bounce now we have been deducted points has MO learned his lesson? NO!
Wigan got deducted the points this season having not actually broken the cap spend-wise as we all know, so to say Mo has not learned his lesson means you are ignoring the facts surrounding the current salary cap issue.
You are also ignoring the fact we have lost 22 league points as a result of lost games which is a far more significant loss from the points available to the club and has far ore baring on our league position than the 4 lost due ot the RFL.
What do you mean "stabilising the club and team"?Everyone Knows full well that this was Nobles first full season and people are deluding themselves to think that we would go from complete no hopers last year to some world beating team, That was never going to happen, the whole point about this year in many peoples opinions was stabilising the club and the team.
It is not because of admin errors we have got deducted the points. Wigan did not erroneously go over the cap. They actually stayed under it due to measures taken and it is down to a subjective judgement by the RFL we have been deduction points. As it stood pre salary cap hearing we where 4th in SL and in the CC semi final which i would have gladly took irrespective of some indifferent performances, i would like to have seen the club build on this make a concerted effort to stay in play off contention and reach the CC final.
But becasue of the admin errors AGAIN ! the strides that have been made have turned the club into a house of cards and just fell down.
What has that got to do with any of this? I would expect Nobby to do that anyway given some of the dross on the books because he isn't daft enough to be seduced by 4th spot when he has seen how the team was playing despite getting to that league position.Look at it this way if we had of stayed where we where do you think Noble is that dumb that he wouldnt have strengthend the squad next year and tried to improve on what may have happened this year? do you think he would have kept the same players knowing the inconsistencies of this season?
He will know that had Barrett got injured long term this season we would be where Salford are now and will know he can't rely on one or two players to drag the rest along once again.
Regardless of where we finish up Nobby will need to make changes and if you are implying finishing 4th would mean the team was good enough to build on as opposed to needing some drastic clear out then I think you are over-estimating the team by a long way.
I was under the impression spending plans were not affected by any of this. But now we are once again back to square one with the club in some turmoil and seeming uncertainty about funds being available to spend next year again! because of fall out from the previous season.
Go and listen to the DW interview. He sets out te course of events clearly enough.
