I want us to play them in the "summer" so i can organise a week away. No argument from me on that one. Having said that i only want to play them away once to be honest.
I don't care so much about when it is so long as we don't get them away twice.

And having said that if the RFL actually did the obvious and expanded the league we would not have play anyone more than home and away - too bleeding obvious a solution?

personally i would have liked the league to do the obvious and confined the league to british clubs.

its not our problem that they cant get league to take off in france.
let em join a french league.

we have already had clubs going into nl1 at their expense.....i would prefer the traditional english heartland clubs in than froggies anyway.
its ok trying to expand rl but why do it at the expense of english clubs
i hear they are trying to expand the game in RUSSIA
...Moscow in march at -30 degrees anyone??
tell you what.....lets promote rugby in morrocco....its nice there in winter.
and whats all this drivel about playing in the sun????
when i was a kid you were lucky to see the sun from season start to season end..... :( :(

As they did for 100 years...

They were in the French league, they were more commonly known as UTC. Rugby league in France is at least as popular as it is in the NL1 English heartlands, and there are few clubs outside SL (and indeed several within SL) who get crowds to match the Catalans Dragons. Putting an extra few thousand into somewhere like Swinton isn't going to increase the crowds, so why not spend the money where there is a bigger demand.

Many of the French clubs have longer histories that the "traditional English heartland clubs". And again I say it must be better for the sport to have 8000 crowds in the south of France rather than a couple of thousand at Oldham or Featherstone. Those clubs have had a long time to build up their crowds and infrastructure and no longer fit the requirements for the highest level of rugby. The Dragons have worked hard to put themselves in the position they are, with a solid business concert, healthy crowds and a decent team. Money should be spent on the clubs who are working hard to promote themselves, not on clubs who are mired in mediocracy.

The league should have gone up to 14 clubs to accommodate the French, not 12 with 2 teams relegated. That's one thing we can agree on, that it should not have been done at the expense of other clubs.

As for Russia, they took part in the World Cup back in 2000 and almost the entire team was proper Russians instead of Aussies like the Scots, Welsh and Irish. In their 30 man squad or whatever it was, they had just 2 Aussies, plus another Aussie-based Russian. And a team has been involved in the Challenge Cup for several years now.

Lebanon is another country with an international team, so why not Morrocco...

you miss the point.
Odsal is only an hour or so away as is fairly easy and cost effective for most fans to get to.
Can you honestly say that you would not prefer a weekend away in France with a chance of decent weather?
Of course I would, but my general point was that it's a rugby match... it doesnt really matter what the weathers like as long as we come away with 2 points... and as much as I sound like I'm against what people are saying, I DO fancy a summer fixture in France, although it just gets me how some people will moan like hell if we don't get one, whereas I would simply prefer 2 points, and if the weather's good as well, all the better.

I made the trip to catalans last year after missing the first years trip and I absolutley loved it. I stayed wednesday to wednesday and apart from match day and the night of the first day the weather was spot on! It was that warm on the thursday apparently it was breaking french records for temperature at that time of year! I stayed a week and done both. went for the game and had a holiday! And the price? Flights direct to perpignan £40 return! the apartment £80 each and there was 6 of us who stayed in the room.
Also the room cost 400 pound i think with a 100 pound deposit which we got back as there was no damage! So for the week I went to perpignan for £120 in total!

So wheres everyone thinking of staying next year? :D

I am in the lucky position that I have friends living in Barcelona, so whether its in Feb or July I will go! So being neutral on this topic I would say that most supporters would prefer a go at watching this fixture in the summer!!! Yes its just a game of rugby and the result is the most important....but why do you think the Dragons have such a good attendence? Because supporters use the match also as an excuse to have a holiday!!! How many go for a day, compared to those for 3 or more days??? If Wigan did get a fixture for Feb and another later in the year, I can guarantee you that the fixture later in the year will be a vastly better attendence than the feb game!!! Why...Better weather and the chance of a lovely break in the South of France!!!
