Didnt he move to RU Northampton or Gloucester??????

Steve Hampson was a case in point - many felt that he was unfairly released before his testimonial year. Yet the player's defence was slowly becoming more suspect and his strength, taking the "high ball", he was also becoming more erratic. The decision to "cull" him was harsh - but I suspected this would happen at the time, with the very talented full backs in reserve.

Yes, very harsh I think it was around 6 months before he was due a testimonial Robinson let him go. He had the last laugh though, helped end Wigans 8-in-a-row with Salford. Still he deserved a testimonia after missing (i think) 3 wembleys through injury.

We did afterall get the likes of Radlinski afterwards

He went to Orrell first and rumour has it that Faz didn't like him so he had to go
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

warrior till i die wrote:exactly CP. Look at what leeds done about 5 years ago, brought McGuire, Burrow, JJB, Lee Smith etc through the 21's and look at them now! Awesome players and experienced at such a young age.

This is what we should attempt to do; with the likes of the tomkins brothers, goulding, mcillorum. We don't need to be afraid to chuck youngsters in for them to develop considering we are pretty much guarenteed a franchise. The experience these lads would gain from playing in the first team.
Besick, Brown, Briscoe Robinson, Smith etc???

thats part of the problem in bringing in the kids ,we have had very little success lately and everybody wants a quick fix.You have to ask yourself would you be prepared to take another 3/4 years knowing we would win nowt to bring in youngsters.Your head might say yes but your heart says no

Unfortunately WG their is no quick fix in a salary cap era. Moreover, to sustain success you have to have that steady progression of player turnover that relies on cheap contracted young players. If you do not have young players established whilst on their cheap contracts you miss out hugely and cannot balance your books sufficiently to have quality/quality in depth. I think some people (not yourself) think it is an either / or in terms of young player development and signing established players. Success requires both.

I am not here to be obsequetious, but I am not here either to be deliberately argumentative and negative (unless we lose  ).

The biggest Room is the Room for improvement.

The best form of defence is attack!!

The reason for this we have not managaged the salary cap wisely paid over the odds for certain players and not managed the youth policy to any degree .Leeds and Saints have brought youth and experience together.
